Job summary

Novolex, a leading packaging manufacturer, seeks a QEHS Associate to support Quality, Environmental, Health, and Safety programs across plant operations. You will help with inspections, audits, recordkeeping, and continuous improvement, fostering a culture of safety and quality.

Ideal candidates have 0–2 years of related experience, an Associate or Bachelor’s degree, and strong detail orientation. Proficiency with Excel and Word is helpful.

Job Description

Position Summary

The QEHS Associate supports the organization's Quality, Environmental, Health, and Safety programs to ensure compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards. This position assists with inspections, audits, training, recordkeeping, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives while promoting a culture of safety, quality, and environmental responsibility throughout the organization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Quality

  • Assist with implementation and maintenance of quality management systems.
  • Support internal audits and quality inspections.
  • Collect, analyze, and maintain quality performance data and reports.
  • Assist with investigations related to customer complaints, non-conformances, and corrective actions.
  • Maintain quality records and documentation according to company standards.

Environmental

  • Support environmental compliance programs and sustainability initiatives.
  • Maintain environmental records, permits, and required reports.
  • Assist with waste management, recycling, and pollution prevention activities.
  • Participate in environmental inspections and audits.

Health & Safety

  • Conduct routine safety inspections and hazard assessments.
  • Assist in incident investigations and corrective action follow-up.
  • Support employee safety training, onboarding, and awareness programs.
  • Maintain OSHA and safety-related documentation and records.
  • Promote safe work practices and compliance with company safety policies.

Compliance & Continuous Improvement

  • Assist in preparing for customer, regulatory, and third-party audits.
  • Track and close corrective and preventive action items.
  • Support continuous improvement projects aimed at improving safety, quality, and operational performance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement process improvements.
  • Maintain QEHS databases, reports, and department metrics.

Qualifications

Education

  • Associate degree or bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, Environmental Science, Quality Management, Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related field preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Experience

  • 0-2 years of experience in manufacturing, quality, environmental, safety, or compliance-related roles.

  • Familiarity with OSHA regulations.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
  • Possible travel 0-25%

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to walk production and warehouse areas regularly.
  • Ability to stand, bend, reach, and occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
