Job summary

Austin Bridge & Road, part of Austin Industries, is seeking a QCQA Technician II for the North Texas DFW Airport project. The role focuses on ensuring construction activities meet project specs, industry standards, and regulatory requirements for airfield infrastructure, including runways and taxiways.

Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred
• Minimum of 3 years of QC/QA experience in heavy civil construction, preferably aviation or airfield projects
• Familiarity with FAA specs, ASTM standards, and DOT requirements
• Certifications such as ACI, NICET, or equivalent are highly desirable
• Ability to read/interpret construction plans, specs, submittals, RFIs, and Change orders with context of overall construction
• General knowledge of construction material testing, reporting, pavement subgrades, installation, and underground utilities

Responsibilities

• Perform daily inspections of construction activities to ensure compliance with plans, specs and quality standards
• Monitor and document materials, workmanship, and methods for conformance to FAA, DOT and other standards
• Conduct field and laboratory testing of soils, concrete, asphalt, and other materials
• Maintain accurate inspection records, reports, and non-conformance logs
• Collaborate with project engineers, contractors, and subcontractors to resolve quality issues
• Assist in development and implementation of project-specific QC plans (QCPs)
• Participate in pre-construction and progress meetings and quality audits
• Ensure safety protocols are followed during inspection activities
• Perform additional duties as assigned

Austin Bridge & Road has an exciting opportunity for a QCQA Technician II to join our team in the North Texas area at our DFW Airport Project. This role will be responsible for ensuring that all construction activities meet project specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements, with a focus on airfield infrastructure such as runways, taxiways, aprons, and associated civil works. The ideal candidate will have hands‑on experience in construction materials testing, familiarity with industry standards, and a commitment to delivering quality in a fast‑paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily inspections of construction activities to ensure compliance with project plans, specifications, and quality standards
• Monitor and document materials, workmanship, and construction methods for conformance to FAA, DOT, and other applicable standards
• Conduct field and laboratory testing of soils, concrete, asphalt, and other construction materials
• Maintain accurate and detailed inspection records, reports, and non‑conformance logs
• Collaborate with project engineers, contractors, and subcontractors to resolve quality issues in a timely manner
• Assist in the development and implementation of project‑specific quality control plans (QCPs)
• Participate in pre‑construction meetings, progress meetings, and quality audits

Qualifications

• Ability to read / interpret construction plans, specifications, material submittals, RFI’s, & Change orders with an understanding of how each correlate in reference to overall construction
• General knowledge of construction material testing, daily reporting and construction procedures, with a strong background regarding pavement subgrades, pavement installation, & underground utility installations
• Proven ability to be a self‑sufficient leader for major construction projects as a Quality Control Technician
• Ability to present and explain construction activity protocols during each phase of construction
• Strong attention to detail and excellent documentation skills
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and technical specifications
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and construction management software (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam)

Requirements

• Strong knowledge of construction materials, methods, and testing procedures
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting project plans, specifications, and standards
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Detail‑oriented with strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
• Be able to work night shifts and/or weekends as needed/be on‑call as needed
• Ability to sit at a desk and work on a computer/iPad
• Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times
• Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities
• Valid driver’s license
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
