Job summary

Austin Commercial is seeking a QC/QA Engineer for its Phoenix, AZ Division. The role focuses on implementing and administering the Quality Assurance/Control Program across construction activities, coordinating with owners, architects, and inspectors to ensure compliance and quality.

The candidate will monitor subcontractor work, manage quality records, and lead daily reporting and inspections to support project requirements and contractual standards.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and understand plans, specifications, codes, and contract requirements.
• Ability to perform in-process inspections and communicate results effectively.
• Familiar with electronic data collection and inspection methods.
• Proficient with PC and company tools (email, internet, Word, Excel).

Responsibilities

• Implements the QA/QC program, including inspections, testing, and documenting in quality records.
• Coordinates with Owner/Architect for NCRs, punch lists, and final resolution of items.
• Interfaces with Design team and City Inspectors for compliance inspections.
• Monitors subcontractors for compliance with contract documents and design specs.
• Inspects installation of material and equipment for quality control compliance.
• Resolves quality control issues including non-conformances and punch lists.
• Manages Quality Records and daily site inspection reports.
• Conducts field observations, pre-pour and backfill checklists, permits, etc.
• Reviews testing reports and follows up on failures until closure.
• Attends pre-bid and pre-construction meetings to align with Austin's expectations.

As a QA/QC Engineer, this position is responsible for the implementation and administration of the Quality Assurance/Control Program.

Responsibilities

• Implements the Quality Assurance/Control Program, including inspecting, testing and documenting in the quality record


• Coordinates with Owner’s representative and/or Architect of record for compliance, including Non Conformance Report (NCR), punch list items, and final resolution of such items


• Interfaces with Design team and City Code Inspectors for compliance inspections


• Monitors subcontractors work for compliance to contract documents and design specifications


• Inspects installation of material and equipment for quality control compliance


• Works to resolve any Quality Control Issues, including non-conformances and punch list items


• Manages the Quality Records


• Responsible for daily reports and inspection as required to ensure compliance and adherence to the contract documents, including site observation daily reports, Non Conformance Record (NCR), punch list items, etc.


• Responsible for field observation, inspection and reporting related to specific tasks such as pre-pour checklists, backfill checklists, excavation permits, etc.


• Administers and reviews all testing reports and follows-up with contractors on failing until closure


• Attends pre-bid and pre-construction, pre-activity and weekly QAQC meetings with subcontractors to discuss project requirements and explain Austin's expectations and requirements


• Maintains technical and other pertinent documents


• Walks the project to check the subcontractors’ work


• Prepares the final walk-through checklists for contractor and subcontractor work

Requirements

• Bachelor or Associates degree strongly preferred in Engineering and or Construction management related courses


• Minimum of 0-2 years or more experience in a commercial/aviation construction QA/QC role or related field, and willing to learn the inspection process


• Successful completion of OSHA 30-Hour Construction Industry Outreach Training required (may obtain within first year of employment)


• Ability to read and understand plans specifications, codes and contract requirements


• Ability to perform in-process inspections and effectively communicate results


• Familiar with electronic data collection and inspection methods


• Demonstrates proficiency using a personal computer (PC) and company communication tools, such as email, internet, and Microsoft products (e.g., Word, Excel, Office, Outlook)
