Job summary

Quaker Houghton PA, Inc. is seeking a QC Lab Technician to perform tests on raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods.

You will record results, calibrate equipment, and report findings per SOPs while supporting continuous improvement initiatives. The role works on a 12-hour rotating night shift (6:00 PM–6:30 AM) and involves collaboration with the Analytical Lab to validate data and drive corrective actions.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • BS in Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Microbiology or related science preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years related experience required.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects.

Responsibilities

  • Perform laboratory tests on raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods.
  • Record and report results according to SOPs and guidelines.
  • Calibrate measuring equipment and maintain laboratory workspace.
  • Communicate non-conforming results to appropriate partners.
  • Assist in root cause investigations and adjust out-of-spec batches.
  • Follow ISO quality and environmental standards.

Job SummaryThis position, under the close supervision of a manager or in collaboration with a senior-level Chemist, is responsible for performing laboratory tests designed to evaluate the quality and consistency of finished products, intermediates, and raw materials, as well as the condition and continued usability of used fluids obtained from customer processes. The role supports the quality program by validating the integrity of incoming and outgoing goods and services.Job DescriptionSchedule 2-2-3 (12 hour shift) 6p-630aUtilizes documented methods to test raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods against established specifications.Communicates findings of non-conforming materials or products to appropriate business partners.Applies sound judgment in interpreting test observations and resulting data.Accurately, clearly, and promptly records and reports results in accordance with specified guidelines and standard operating procedures.Recommends corrective actions as needed.Calibrates measuring equipment according to schedule and maintains laboratory equipment, glassware, and workspaces in a clean, organized, and functional condition.Participates in root cause investigations and assists in adjusting out-of-specification batches.Adheres to all safety, health, and environmental standards and properly disposes of laboratory waste.Proactively identifies opportunities for improvement.Collaborates with Regional Development and/or the Analytical Lab to implement new or enhanced test procedures.Demonstrates initiative in troubleshooting equipment and procedures, and recommends changes to improve outcomes.Follows all ISO quality and environmental standards as outlined in procedural manuals.May be responsible for coaching or directing the work of QC Technician I in all areas of responsibility.Education, Experience, Skills & Competencies:High School diploma/GED equivalent required.B.S. in Hard Science Degrees: Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Microbiology or related science preferred.Minimum 3 years related experience required.Must possess the ability to work in a fast pace environment, to work at different projects at the same time, and to think analytically.Good prioritization and communication skills (oral and writing).Work EnvironmentWorks in a manufacturing environment and may be exposed to fumes, airborne particles and some hazardous or caustic chemicals.
