Quaker Houghton is seeking an entry-level lab associate to conduct tests on raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods to ensure quality and consistency. You will calibrate equipment, maintain a clean lab, and assist in investigations while adhering to ISO standards.
The role involves working in a manufacturing environment with exposure to chemicals, and requires a high school diploma or equivalent and a BS in a hard science. Competitive benefits and a sign-on bonus are offered.
This position, under the close supervision of a manager or in collaboration with a senior-level Chemist, is responsible for performing laboratory tests designed to evaluate the quality and consistency of finished products, intermediates, and raw materials, as well as the condition and continued usability of used fluids obtained from customer processes. The role supports the quality program by validating the integrity of incoming and outgoing goods and services.
Use documented methods to test raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods against established specifications. Notify relevant business partners of any non-conforming materials or products. Apply sound judgment when interpreting test observations and resulting data. Record and report results accurately, clearly, and promptly in accordance with standard operating procedures and specified guidelines. With minimal guidance, recommend corrective actions as needed. Calibrate measuring equipment according to the prescribed schedule. Maintain laboratory equipment, glassware, and workspaces in a clean, organized, and functional condition. Participate in root cause investigations and assist in adjusting out-of-specification batches. Adhere to all safety, health, and environmental standards. Dispose of laboratory waste properly and suggest improvements to enhance lab operations. Collaborate with Regional Development and/or the Analytical Lab to implement new or improved test procedures. Follow all ISO quality and environmental standards as outlined in procedural manuals.
Works in a manufacturing environment and may be exposed to fumes, airborne particles and some hazardous or caustic chemicals. The associate may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, potential risk of electrical shock, trip and slip hazards.

High School diploma or equivalent required. B.S. in Hard Science Degrees: Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Microbiology or related science preferred. Entry level position: 0-2 years' experience Must possess the ability to work in a fast pace environment, to work at different projects at the same time, and to think analytically. Good prioritization and communication skills (oral and writing).
