Job summary

Ortec seeks a QC Technician to support routine laboratory tasks in a cGMP environment at our South Carolina facility. You will assist with calibrations, raw material sampling, and environmental monitoring to ensure quality and compliance.

Responsibilities include wet bench testing (pH, viscometers, FTIR, UV-Vis, TOC), logging results, and maintaining documentation while adhering to FDA/ISO guidelines. On-site role with opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

• Highschool diploma with 1+ year of chemical manufacturing experience.
• Knowledge of laboratory safety and GMP.
• Experience in ISO or FDA regulated environments is preferred.
• Proficient with MS Office and related software.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine QC lab instrument calibrations and verifications.
• Sample raw materials for QC testing and release.
• Conduct environmental monitoring sampling and analysis.
• Maintain QC lab logs and documentation per SOPs.
• Prepare standards and reagents for analyses.
• Perform chemical testing using wet bench techniques (pH, viscometers, FTIR, UV-Vis, TOC).
• Ensure data integrity per GMP/industry standards and assist audits.

POSITION SUMMARY

The QC Technician position is responsible for routine laboratory support tasks such as performing calibrations/ verifications, raw material sampling, environmental monitoring functions, retain logging, and housekeeping. Additionally, basic lab wet bench testing will be expected including but not limited to: Karl Fisher, pH, Viscosity, and FTIR.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Perform routine QC Lab instrument calibrations and verifications including but not limited to: balances, pH meter and viscometers.
• Sampling of raw materials for QC Lab testing, as well as performing the required testing for raw material release.
• Sampling and performing analysis for site Environmental Monitoring.
• Maintain QC Lab logs for various systems such as QC Retains, raw material sampling and instrument verifications.
• Preparation of standards and reagents necessary for QC Lab analysis.
• Perform chemical testing using basic analytical instrumentation and wet bench techniques including pH, Viscometers, FTIR, UV-VIS, TOC, Melting Point, Chemical Identification and Microbiological analysis as needed
• Familiar with Quality GMP documentation (hard copy and electronic) of testing results and assurance of laboratory data integrity.
• Maintain accurate lab notebooks and complete all related analytical reports, write summaries, and keep proper documentation in compliance with SOPs.
• Experience with USP interpretation and testing.
• Support QC audit readiness with understanding of FDA and ISO regulations and requirements.
• Support on-time performance in the QC lab against the Production and laboratory schedules.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized environment for all QC areas.
• Employ sound and compliant laboratory techniques and logic per industry standards (e.g., FDA, USP/NF, ISO, ANSI) and internal and customer requirements.
• Follow all SOPs and Safety Guidelines to ensure compliance with a cGMP environment and Safety Practices
• Any additional functions as assigned by the Laboratory Manager

EDUCATION

• Highschool Diploma with 1+ years of chemical manufacturing experience.

EXPERIENCE

• Knowledge of Chemical and Laboratory Safety
• Experience working in an ISO or FDA regulated environment preferred
• Microsoft Office and other software
• Excellent communication skills, including the ability to speak clearly, listen and gain clarification, respond well to questions, and write clearly and informatively.
