Qualifications

Job Summary

The Team Lead will monitor, organize and schedule the daily activities of associates and monitor product resources ensuring that customer and AFL specifications are met. In this role, the Lead will develop effective and efficient methods; maintain documentation throughout the process; assist with troubleshooting and correction of problems; and monitor workflow. The Lead will be responsible for assisting management by leading, coaching and training of staff, developing skills and coordinating the necessary training of staff, and reviewing documents/procedures. The Lead must have a good attitude and attendance; strong growth potential; excellent organization and people skills, with the ability to communicate with and lead a diversified workforce. Position will aid in improving teamwork and motivating team members to excel at their jobs. The Lead will be expected to follow established company policies and lead by example, ensure established work practices and policies are followed, and provide staff performance/recommendation to Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Assess daily production schedules and plan to ensure uninterrupted flow as well as fulfillment of
    customer delivery requirements.
  • Coordinate the day-to-day activities of team members.
  • Provide the necessary support, training, and troubleshooting to ensure an effective team.
  • Prepare standardized work procedures and facilitate effective communication of procedures to
    affected areas.
  • Develop training documents and facilitate training; assist in trouble shooting issues.
  • Troubleshoot and intervene as needed to address and resolve disruptions as quickly as possible
    in order to maintain product flow.
  • Establish appropriate channels of feedback to inform upstream departments of defects.
  • Review/update completed nonconforming reports for accuracy and publish KPI metrics as
    assigned daily.
  • Lead and/or participate in improvements activities
  • Responsible for 5s activities for assigned area.
  • Monitor performance and provide feedback to Manager.
  • Adhere to and promote the environmental, health & safety policies of AFL.
  • Perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned.

  • Ability to follow strict test procedures and maintain objective attitude towards testing results.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to schedule and monitor work activity and
    adjust as needed to meet commitments.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to interact at all levels of the
    organization and with customers.
  • Ability to apply basic math and numeric reasoning to solve problems.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2+ years of manufacturing experience
  • Understanding of manufacturing safety standards
  • Previous manufacturing / quality related experience in the cable industry preferred.
  • Oracle, QTS, and ETQ system knowledge preferred.
  • Proficient user of Microsoft Outlook, Access, Word and Excel.
  • Basic understanding of Environment Health and Safety (EHS) management systems to include:
    general safety rules, personal protective equipment, hazard recognition, behavioral based safety, incident reporting requirements, and environmental regulations
  • Practical Understanding of EHS and quality systems
