Job summary

Knife River is seeking a Quality Control Manager in Oregon to lead the development and maintenance of systems ensuring all products meet customer and regulatory specifications with high reliability.

The role requires supervising technicians, updating QC manuals, coordinating with vendors and customers, and ensuring accurate test documentation and calibration across regulatory bodies. Strong safety, communication, and leadership skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Must have current, valid Oregon Driver's License.
• Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred.
• Minimum of five (5) years supervisory experience.
• Strong knowledge of safety standards and practices.
• Ability to pass pre-employment background check and drug screen.

Responsibilities

• Revises and updates the quality control manual to incorporate statistical control programs.
• Meets with vendors, customers, quality representatives, and company personnel to discuss and resolve quality problems.
• Provides specification sheets and test results to City, County, State and private accounts as requested.
• Ensures scales are calibrated and current with government agencies.
• Supervises lab testing equipment and activities daily.
• Stays current with cement types and asphalt applications to ensure high service levels.
• Prepares and reviews employee performance evaluations in a timely manner.

Job description

The Quality Control Manager is charged with developing and maintaining a system to assure that all products manufactured by the organization meet customer and federal/state/county specifications and achieve superior quality and reliability levels.

Job Summary:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

• Ensures that a high standard of knowledge, training and safety are developed, exceeded, and maintained by all technicians.
• Develops and implements a quality production program to ensure conformity of purchased material and final products to quality standards.
• Revises and updates the quality control manual to incorporate statistical control programs.
• Meets with vendors, customers, quality representatives, and company personnel to discuss and resolve quality problems as required.
• Responsible for providing all specification sheets and test results to City, County, State and private accounts per requests.
• Ensures that scales are calibrated and current with all governmental agencies.
• Responsible for the supervision of all lab testing equipment and activities per specifications on a daily basis.
• Responsible for understanding and staying current with a wide variety of cement types and asphalt applications, equipment and processes needed to ensure a high level of service is achieved.
• Responsible for preparing and reviewing employee performance evaluations in a timely manner.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Superior interpersonal abilities.
• Ability to get along with diverse personalities, tactful, mature, flexible.
• Good communications ability, both verbal and written.
• Proven ability to perform manual tasks occasionally.
• Proven ability to perform and maintain a positive attitude, work safely and provide a quality product.
• Must have current, valid Oregon Drivers License (with endorsement if necessary).
• Must be able to demonstrate proof of insurability during any period of employment with KRWOD.
• Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred.
• Minimum of five (5) years experience in supervisory positions utilizing a combination of technical, managerial, sales and financial expertise.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment criminal background check, physical/functional exam and drug screen
