Job summary

Barnhill Contracting Company is seeking a field-oriented asphalt lab technician in Fayetteville, NC, to perform density tests and roller pattern testing on plant-produced mix per NCDOT specs. The role emphasizes accurate data reporting, safety, and teamwork in a demanding construction environment.

Minimum qualifications include 1+ year in an asphalt lab, valid driver's license, and strong math skills. NCDOT or Nuclear density training is a plus but not required; standard training may be provided.

Qualifications

• NCDOT Certification preferred, but not required.
• Nuclear density testing training preferred, but not required.
• Valid driver's license and ability to lift 50 pounds.
• Must be at least 21 years old.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate records and report results timely.
• Operate density gauge equipment and complete required paperwork.
• Be a self-starter and able to lead others to maintain safety and attendance.

Perform accurate testing duties and properly prepare, maintain, and report accurate results in a timely manner.Minimum Qualifications & Training:1 year experience or more in an asphalt lab.Ability to abide by and communicate precise instructions.NCDOT Certification preferred, but not required. Willing to train the right person.Perform Nuclear/Conventional Density test on roadway asphalt material.
