Job summary

Fagron Sterile Services US (FSS) is seeking a Microbiology Technician to join our laboratory team in the U.S. This role reports to the Laboratory Supervisor and ensures routine testing of finished compounded pharmaceutical products in line with regulatory standards.

You will perform microbial analyses, support quality control, and contribute to ongoing quality improvements while maintaining a safe and organized lab environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Biology, Chemistry, or related field.
  • Experience in pharmaceutical QC or microbiology lab; cgmp environment preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Detail oriented and able to follow safety/quality protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Collect and prepare samples for microbiological analysis following established procedures.
  • Perform media inspections and growth promotion testing.
  • Conduct bacterial endotoxin, particulate matter, sterility, and filter integrity testing, including method suitability studies.
  • Track and manage test samples to ensure accurate documentation and timely processing.
  • Support lab organization and cleanliness, including proper waste disposal and storage management.
  • Comply with procedural and regulatory guidelines related to controlled substances.
  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and ensure integrity of testing and product release processes.
  • Follow safety procedures and assist in training new staff on lab safety protocols.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment.

About the Job

Microbiology Technician reports directly to the Laboratory Supervisor and plays a key role in the routine testing of finished compounded pharmaceutical products. This position ensures that all testing is conducted in compliance with applicable regulations, standards, and guidance of documents related to quality control and microbiological safety.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect and prepare samples for microbiological analysis in accordance with established procedures.

  • Track and manage test samples to ensure accurate documentation and timely processing.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in Microbiology, Biology, Chemistry, or a related scientific field.
  • Prior experience in a pharmaceutical quality control or microbiology laboratory setting preferred, especially in environments regulated by cGMP standards.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to focus on detailed tasks for extended periods and strictly adhere to established safety and quality protocols.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and basic computer skills for documentation and reporting.
