Job description

Our dynamic and rapidly growing company is currently seeking a Quality Control Manager/SSHO (Site Safety and Health Officer) for a PRESTIGIOUS, FEDERAL CONSTRUCTION PROJECT in New York City (Battery Park).

Potential candidates must be experienced and technically proficient federal market construction professionals who believe in teamwork and treating people with dignity and respect. This individual will be part of a project team managing subcontractors' work execution.

The primary responsibilities include coordinating, planning, and supervising subcontractors and craft activities to ensure compliance with plans and specifications, enforcing site safety, and providing contractor quality control. Candidates should have strong organizational and communication skills. Other duties include:

  • Conduct safety audits and assist with contractor quality control and safety at construction sites.
  • Maintain 100% compliance readiness with all mandatory/regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure safety standards and accountability, taking necessary actions when unsafe behaviors or conditions are observed, reporting incidents, and maintaining proper documentation.
  • Maintain proficiency with work-related equipment, policies, and procedures, and perform daily site interface activities.

Quality Control Essential Functions:
  • Develop and administer the Quality Control Plan following Army Corps standards.
  • Certify and review all submittals for compliance with contract requirements.
  • Review plans and specifications to ensure adherence during construction.
  • Provide evaluations and assessments to staff and subcontractors.
  • Review catalog cuts and material submittals for compliance.
  • Ensure proper testing of materials and systems by approved personnel or labs.
  • Distribute inspection/test results and ensure corrective actions are taken.
  • Conduct pre-final inspections, establish punch lists, and coordinate final inspections with government personnel.
  • Submit as-builts upon project completion.
Main Requirements:
  • Minimum 5 years experience with US Federal Government construction contracts (NAVFAC/USACOE).
  • 10+ years in vertical construction, with 5+ years on projects over $1M preferred.
  • Proficiency with USACE EM-385-1 standards, OSHA 30-hour safety training, and current first aid/CPR certification.
  • Competency in excavation, scaffolding, fall protection, and confined space.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and knowledge of construction plans and procedures.
  • Certification in Construction Quality Management from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to maneuver around construction sites, climb ladders, walk on uneven terrain, and work in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to work on-site, lift up to 50 lbs, and work long periods standing or sitting.
  • Willingness to travel as required.

Annual salary depends on experience and qualifications.
