Qualifications

Description

The Quality Control Manager is responsible for managing the Quality Assurance and Quality Control Department while working with multiple departments to ensure products and processes meet specifications.

Oversees and trains employees to:

  • Receive material into inventory based on purchase order requirements
  • Measure parts and components using micrometer, tape measure and caliper
  • Notate flaws on receiving reports and issue hold tags if items are to be rejected
  • Assign internal tracking numbers to material and components when applicable
  • Review Material Test Reports and verify items meets required specifications
  1. Manages ASME QC system including U1 reports, job travelers, WPS, WPQ, PQR’s
  2. Ensures ASME code compliance, reviews all WPQ documents, keeps all continuity and calibration logs current.
  3. Oversees all welding procedures and work with CWI to ensure welder qualification
  4. Develop and write new quality procedures and work instructions for all departments
  5. Performs in-process quality audits, new program inspections, and supplier evaluations.
  6. Schedules all NDE visits for ASME Code and interacts with ASME audit and pre-audit reviews.
  7. Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations. Secures tools, materials and equipment at end of day.
  8. Performs additional duties as needed.

  1. High school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Quality Control, ASME Section VIII Div 1, and ASME Section IX experience preferred with API Q1/ISO 9001 experience a plus.
  3. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  4. Ability to read and interpret documents such as charts, procedure manuals and job instructions with basic problem solving skills.
  5. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  6. Ability to accurately read and record measurements using calipers, micrometers, and other measuring tools, as well as read a tape‑measure.
  7. Ability to work in a high‑stress, fast‑paced work environment.
  8. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  9. Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
  10. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  11. Ability to operate computer and computer software, to include Microsoft Office products.
  12. Ability to use department equipment.
  13. Ability to maintain confidentiality.

  2. The work environment is usually an indoor setting with frequent exposure to outside elements. The noise level in the work environment is frequently high. This position requires infrequent travel, which may involve exposure to extreme weather elements.
  3. Must abide by PPE requirements.
