Job summary

Grand River Aseptic Manufacturing, Inc. (GRAM) seeks a QC Laboratory Supervisor for the 2nd shift to lead the QA/QC lab team in a cGMP environment. The role focuses on prioritizing testing work, ensuring safety, and maintaining documentation and training.

Hours are 4:00 pm to 12:30 am, Monday–Friday, with weekend support as production schedules require. Strong background in chemistry and pharmaceutical testing is essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or related discipline; minimum 5 years pharma/testing experience.
  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Knowledge of cGMP drug manufacturing environments is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day prioritization of routine, in-process, stability, and finished product work.
  • Supervises lab personnel, schedules overtime/weekend coverage for manufacturing support.
  • Maintain working schedule for all work flowing through the QC Analytical Lab.
  • Comply with laboratory safety guidelines; inform management of safety concerns.
  • Lead training of new employees and maintain training documentation.
  • Support OOS system, lab investigations, and assist CAPAs/non-conformances.
  • Deliver staff performance evaluations and set individual goals.
  • Oversee laboratory chemical handling and equipment use.
  • Establish aseptic technique and edit internal methods/SOPs.

Overview of this Position:

The Quality Control Laboratory Supervisor supports and manages quality systems as they relate to the manufacturing and testing of cGMP drug products.

Hours for this position are 4:00 pm to 12:30 am, Monday - Friday with weekend support necessary depending on the production schedule.

Non-Negotiable Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry and/or other related discipline (e.g. Biochemistry, Biotechnology) a minimum of 5 years pharmaceutical or testing experience.
  • Must have proficient computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Preferred Requirements:
  • Knowledge of physical, chemical, and instrumental analysis of raw material, active pharmaceutical ingredients, excipients and finished pharmaceutical products.
  • Experience with various types of laboratory instruments including: HPLC, UHPLC, UPLC, GC, UV-Vis, FTIR, etc.
  • Candidate should understand and have experience with pharmaceutical manufacturing and analytical laboratories in regulated environments under FDA, ICH, and EMA guidelines.
Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to):

  • Supervises lab personnel, including staff performance and creation of staff schedules to ensure over-time/weekend coverage for manufacturing support.
  • Work with management to maintain working schedule of all work flowing through the QC Analytical Lab.
  • Comply with all laboratory safety guidelines, both written and implied. Inform management of any safety concerns.
  • Lead training of all new employees and maintain all training documentation via current system.
  • Support the OOS system, Laboratory Investigations, and assist in any related CAPAs, non-conformances, etc.
  • Work with management to deliver staff performance evaluations, develop individual goals, address performance and progress via routine 1x1 meetings.
  • Oversight of all laboratory chemical and equipment use.
  • Establish and maintain good technique with regards to working in an aseptic environment.
  • Independently author or edit internal test methods and standard operating procedures.
