Job summary

Oterra in Wisconsin is seeking a QC Lab Technician I to monitor and test the production process, ensuring customer specifications and quality standards are met. This role performs lab tests on raw materials, in-process, and finished products, maintains equipment, and coordinates with Production and other departments.

This second-shift position requires occasional weekend work and strict adherence to GMP/GLP, ISO standards, and documentation practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a scientific field or relevant lab experience.
• Previous laboratory experience preferred.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
• Ability to read and comprehend SOPs, equipment manuals, blend formulas, and other technical documents.
• Strong communication skills with colleagues, other departments, and auditors.
• Ability to interpret lab testing results and follow SOPs to determine actions.
• Operate a variety of laboratory equipment, instruments, and office equipment.
• Working knowledge of GMP and ISO compliance requirements.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs, including Word and Excel; databases helpful.
• Ability to perform mathematical calculations involving rates, ratios, percentages, volumes, and metric equivalents.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and accuracy.
• Ability to work independently while also contributing as part of a team.
• Willingness and ability to work second shift and occasional weekends.

Responsibilities

• Monitor the production process and accurately test and interpret materials to ensure specifications.
• Communicate test results and production adjustments to Production personnel.
• Analyze finished products using required testing methods for approval and release.
• Perform various in-process tests to support production and quality requirements.
• Follow aseptic sampling procedures for microbiological samples.
• Test the production environment to ensure sterile conditions.
• Calibrate laboratory instruments and equipment according to standards.
• Maintain laboratory cleanliness and documentation per GMP/GLP.
• Complete and maintain required laboratory records and paperwork.
• Collaborate with Production and other departments to resolve issues.
• Support continuous improvement efforts related to testing methods and processes.
• Navigate DocBox and SAP for lab results entry and product release.
• Maintain a clean supply of glassware and monitor inventory.
