Role Description

The QC Inspector - Welding is a full-time, on-site role based in Chester, VA. This role is responsible for performing visual and dimensional inspections of welded joints, verifying conformance to applicable codes, project specifications, and internal quality standards. The QC Inspector - Welding reviews welding procedures, welder qualifications, and material certifications, and documents inspection results and nonconformances in accordance with company quality processes. Day-to-day tasks include collaborating with project managers, forepersons, and welders to resolve quality issues, supporting corrective and preventive actions, and participating in internal audits of welding activities. The role also involves maintaining accurate records, ensuring safe work practices during inspections, and contributing to continuous improvement of welding quality and performance.

Qualifications

• Strong Quality Control and Inspection skills specific to welding, including visual inspection, dimensional verification, and documentation of findings.
• Experience with Quality Assurance and Quality Management practices, including adherence to welding codes/standards (e.g., AWS, ASME) and project specifications.
• Effective Communication skills for working with welders, supervisors, and project teams, and for clearly reporting inspection results and quality issues.
• Relevant welding inspection certifications (e.g., CWI or equivalent) and familiarity with NDE/NDT methods are highly beneficial.
• Knowledge of industrial and commercial construction environments, with a strong focus on safety and regulatory compliance.
• Ability to read and interpret welding symbols, blueprints, isometric drawings, and technical specifications.
• Proficiency in using inspection tools and instrumentation (e.g., gauges, measuring devices) and basic computer skills for quality reporting.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or coursework in welding, metallurgy, or related fields is a plus.
