Job summary
A leading specialty contractor in Virginia is seeking a Quality Control Inspector with hands-on experience in structural steel and bridge fabrication. The ideal candidate will hold or be able to obtain the AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification within one year. Responsibilities include ensuring compliance through inspections, coordinating Non-Destructive Testing, and collaborating with the Plant Manager for quality improvements. Qualifications
AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI), or ability to obtain one within 1 year.
Minimum 5 years of QC experience in structural steel and bridge fabrication.
Proficient with basic PC skills for reporting and documentation.
Responsibilities
Read and interpret shop drawings for in-process fit-up inspections.
Perform final weld inspections in accordance with AWS D1.1.
Schedule and coordinate Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) per project requirements.
Administer weld tests as directed by the QA Manager.
Conduct receiving inspections and address quality issues with suppliers.
Skills
AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or ability to obtain

Proficiency in reading blueprints
Strong knowledge of AWS D1.1 acceptance criteria
Excellent communication skills
