Drake Plastics in Cypress, TX is seeking a QC Inspector for machined parts to join our Quality team and ensure components meet customer, engineering, and quality requirements. In this role you will perform visual and dimensional inspections, support timely product releases, and maintain inspection documentation.

Training starts on the 1st shift with a move to the 2nd shift (4:15 pm – 2:45 am) and potential longer days.

Formación

• 1–3 years of quality inspection experience with machined parts.
• Proficiency with micrometers, calipers, height gauges, indicators, and other precision measuring equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, tolerances, and GD&T.

Responsabilidades

• Perform visual and dimensional inspections of machined parts to verify GD&T and tolerances.
• Use precision measuring equipment for first-piece, in-process, final, and first article inspections.
• Complete inspection reports, FAI documentation, QC releases, and nonconformance records accurately.
• Partner with machinists to resolve dimensional and quality issues, reducing nonconformances.
• Support calibration, MRB, corrective actions, and continuous improvement activities.

Position Summary
The QC Inspector / Machined Parts is responsible for inspecting and verifying precision‑machined components to ensure they meet customer, engineering, and quality requirements. This position works closely with Quality and Machining personnel to identify dimensional or quality issues, support timely product releases, and ensure parts meet required specifications and tolerances.

What Success Looks Like
During your first year, you will:

• Ensure product quality — Perform visual and dimensional inspections of machined parts to verify compliance with drawings, GD&T, tolerances, and customer requirements.
• Deliver accurate inspections — Use precision measuring equipment to complete first‑piece, in‑process, final, and first article inspections.
• Maintain quality documentation — Accurately complete inspection reports, FAI documentation, QC releases, and nonconformance records.
• Support production — Partner with machinists to resolve dimensional and quality issues while helping reduce nonconformances and scrap.
• Promote quality and compliance — Support calibration, MRB, corrective actions, and continuous improvement activities.
  

What We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate will bring:

• 1–3 years of quality inspection experience with machined or precision‑manufactured parts.
• Proficiency with micrometers, calipers, height gauges, indicators, and other precision measuring equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, tolerances, and GD&T.
• Strong understanding of dimensional inspection and tight‑tolerance requirements.
• Strong attention to detail, documentation, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and effectively support second‑shift production.
  

Preferred

• Experience inspecting CNC‑machined components.
• Experience with CMMs, vision systems, optical comparators, or similar inspection equipment.
• Experience with AS9102 First Article Inspection Reports.
• Experience in an AS9100D, ISO 9001, aerospace, defense, or other regulated manufacturing environment.
  

Work Environment / Schedule: (as applicable):
Primary shop or lab‑type environment working with product, hand tools, shop equipment, and report writing daily. This position follows a 4/10 schedule Monday - Thursday. Initial training will be conducted on the 1st shift. Upon completion of training, the role will transition to 2nd shift (4:15 pm - 2:45 am). There will be a minimum two‑week overlap period requiring extended or heavier workdays.
