Job description

As a QC Inspector at John Crane, you will play a vital role in ensuring the precision and integrity of high-performance mechanical components. You’ll be responsible for performing dimensional inspections of parts throughout the manufacturing and repair process, using a variety of precision measurement tools and techniques to maintain product quality, customer satisfaction, and compliance with internal and external standards.

  1. Perform first-piece, in-process, and final inspections on a variety of machined parts under supervisor direction.
  2. Work with tight dimensional tolerances, down to .0005".
  3. Read and interpret engineering and process drawings to check dimensions, surface finishes, angles, bores, threads, radii, and other critical features.
  4. Use precision measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, gauges, comparators, and hardness testers.
  5. Operate and understand basic programming of coordinate measuring machines (CMMs) and other programmable inspection tools.
  6. Conduct material identification and conformance tests as needed.
  7. Prepare inspected parts for shipment, including packaging and documentation.
  8. Follow all company safety procedures and report any unsafe conditions.
  9. Complete accurate labor and time tracking reports.
  10. May perform Nuclear-Aircraft-Government (NAG) inspections once internally certified.
  11. Provide guidance and support to other inspectors as needed.
Qualifications
  • Must have a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Vocational/Technical Certification preferred.
  • Ability to understand and solve technical problems.
  • Ziess certification preferred.
  • Must have a basic understanding of computer operation, medium to advanced mathematics, and SPC methodology.
  • Minimum two years of previous inspection-related experience or subordinate work experience required.
