SUMMARY:

The role involves quality control audit re-underwriting of closed loans. The Quality Control Auditor will document loan data, comment on deficiencies, and assign grades accordingly.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Note: These duties are subject to change based on business needs.

  1. Perform credit re-underwrites based on AUS findings or manual approvals.
  2. Analyze property appraisals for value support and eligibility.
  3. Recalculate borrower income sources as needed.
  4. Assess borrower's debt load and calculate debt-to-income ratios.
  5. Ensure loan elements meet investor guidelines.
  6. Identify potential misrepresentation and fraud.
  7. Detect defect trends within QC periods.
  8. Interpret re-verification results and cite defects.
  9. Input loan data into the QC system.
  10. Review closing documents and disclosures.
  11. Analyze notes, mortgages, and assignments for accuracy.
  12. Verify all legal documents.
  13. Perform compliance tests (High Cost, APR, etc.).
  14. Comment on inaccuracies, deficiencies, and missing items.
  15. Assign defect severity based on risk.
  16. Meet productivity and quality standards.
  17. Train and mentor team members.
  18. Perform additional duties as required.
Position Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
  • 5-10 years mortgage underwriting/audit experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field, or equivalent experience.
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:
  • Knowledge of Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA, VA requirements, and compliance.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Sound judgment and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to interpret mortgage and financial documents.
  • Ability to document and explain mortgage defects clearly.
  • Proficiency in grammar and spelling.
  • Advanced mathematical skills for income and ratio calculations.
  • Problem-solving and data analysis skills.
  • Ability to research using guidelines and policies.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Standard office environment, possibly remote.
  • Flexible hours may be required.
