Job description

Quality Builders is seeking a skilled and motivated Lead Architect, Estimator, and Designer to join our team. This role involves leading and overseeing all aspects of estimating and architectural design services for residential projects ranging from $50k to $2M, including complex additions and basement digdowns. The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of architectural principles, building codes, construction processes, and project management, with a focus on using AI and technology to streamline design.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Lead the estimating and architectural design process from conceptualization to completion, ensuring designs meet client specifications, budgets, and regulations.
2. Manage an overseas team to develop efficient processes for faster building plan completion.
3. Create 3D models using BIM software to prevent field conflicts.
4. Participate in initial client property walkthroughs to gather measurements.
5. Ensure designs comply with all relevant regulations and standards.
6. Review initial quantity take-offs and estimates.
7. Support active projects with site visits and design solutions.
8. Stay updated on architectural and construction trends and technologies.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture; ability to stamp & seal plans.
• City of Chicago self-certified architect preferred; at minimum, willing to obtain certification.
• Experience managing all phases of architectural design.
• Knowledge of material quantity take-offs, production rates, and cost analysis.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and other design software.
• Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and systems.
• Ability to collaborate in a fast-paced environment and solve complex design challenges.
