The Role
We are seeking an experienced QA/QC Mechanical Engineer to lead all mechanical quality assurance and control activities on a large-scale data center project. This role is critical to ensuring that all mechanical systems are installed, tested, and commissioned to meet project specifications, operational performance standards, and client expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement the Mechanical QA/QC strategy, procedures, and inspection plans
- Oversee quality control for installation of key mechanical systems, including:
- HVAC (CRAC/CRAH units, chillers, cooling towers)
- Cooling distribution systems (CHW/CDW pipework)
- Fuel systems
- Fire suppression systems (e.g., sprinkler, gas suppression)
- Building management systems (BMS) interfaces (coordination)
- Manage and review Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), method statements, and quality documentation
- Conduct regular site inspections, ensuring compliance with drawings, specs, and standards
- Coordinate closely with subcontractors, consultants, and commissioning teams
- Oversee and support testing & commissioning (T&C) and integrated systems testing
- Identify, track, and close non-conformances (NCRs) and quality issues
- Ensure proper compilation of handover and turnover documentation (O&M manuals, as-builts)
- Support client inspections, witness testing, and final acceptance processes
- Drive a culture of quality excellence and continuous improvement across the project
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- 4+ years of experience in QA/QC, mechanical engineering, or construction delivery
- Proven experience in data center or mission-critical projects is strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems used in critical environments
- Experience with cooling systems and thermal management in data centers
- Familiarity with international standards and best practices (ASHRAE, ISO, etc.)
- Ability to read and interpret complex mechanical drawings and specifications
- Strong experience with testing & commissioning processes
- Excellent attention to detail and document control
- Strong communication and stakeholder coordination skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience with hyperscale data center builds
- Knowledge of commissioning levels (Level 1–5) and integrated systems testing (IST)
- Experience working within ISO 9001 quality management systems
- Familiarity with digital QA/QC tools, BIM coordination, and snagging platforms
