Job summary

Oorwin AI in Ann Arbor, MI is seeking a Software Quality Assurance professional to join the team and drive testing across mobile, web, and backend systems. You will craft test strategies, execute tests, and collaborate with developers to ensure high-quality releases.

The role emphasizes automated testing (BDD/TDD), secure SDLC practices, and rigorous validation of consumer-facing SaaS applications, with exposure to POS and high-traffic environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years of Software Quality Assurance in an Agile environment.
• 1+ year of automated Software Quality Assurance practices, including BDD/TDD.
• 2+ years of experience with Secure Development Lifecycle processes.
• Experience with Identity and Access Management, including user registration, access provisioning, role-based access control, and user de-provisioning.
• Experience performing QA for consumer-facing transactional applications, POS, and SaaS applications.
• Experience testing mobile websites and native mobile applications on iOS/Android.
• Experience testing backend applications and APIs with Java and/or C#, including SQL/NoSQL, messaging, and caching.
• Experience testing UI with Visual Basic or similar technologies.
• Strong understanding of network topologies and data management, including SQL.

Responsibilities

• Develop, document, and maintain test strategies and test scenarios.
• Partner with developers to ensure thorough testing and prioritization of issues.
• Manage the defect log and validate fixes.
• Coordinate cross-system integration and regression tests for each release.
• Review automated QA test suites for operational validation by Reliability/Operations.
• Communicate QA plans, results, and metrics to the Agile team.
• Perform manual testing across mobile and web, including accessibility, analytics, and hardware/firmware.
• Assist with test environment management and Agile ceremonies.

Job description

• Participate in developing and documenting user stories, including testing estimates and validation tests.
• Develop, document, and maintain test strategies and test scenarios.
• Partner with developers to ensure all areas of the application are thoroughly tested and that issues are clearly documented and consistently prioritized.
• Manage the defect log and ensure issues are resolved, including validation of fixes.
• Work with integration and build teams to manage software releases across Development, QA, and Production environments.
• Evaluate product requirements to create, modify, and execute test cases for functional manual testing, and report results clearly and concisely to Agile team members.
• Report and troubleshoot defects directly with developers and other members of the Agile team.
• Effectively communicate test plans, test reports, results, and QA metrics to the team.
• Perform manual testing across a variety of areas, including mobile and web applications, accessibility, analytics, and hardware/firmware.
• Contribute to QA standards, guidelines, processes, and procedures as needed.
• Participate in the analysis of major incidents and emergency changes to identify opportunities to improve software quality and strengthen test coverage.
• Design and execute cross-system integration and regression tests for each release.
• Review automated QA test suites that can be provided to Reliability, Operations, or Production Support teams for operational validation of systems.
• Assist with the management and maintenance of appropriate test environments.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and document and estimate the QA strategy for each user story or development task.

• 1+ year of experience with automated Software Quality Assurance practices, including BDD/TDD.

• Experience working with high-availability architectures in large, high-traffic environments.
• Experience testing backend applications and APIs developed using Java and/or C#, including environments utilizing SQL, NoSQL, messaging technologies, and caching technologies.
• Experience testing applications with user interfaces implemented using Visual Basic or similar technologies.
• Strong understanding of network topologies and networking technologies.
• Strong understanding of data management practices, including hands-on experience with SQL.
• Experience with full software development and deployment lifecycles using Agile practices.

Nice to Have

• Hands-on experience with scripting languages such as Python, shell scripting, or similar technologies.
• Experience with performance and load testing of web applications.
• Experience using Splunk or similar observability/logging platforms to query application metrics and investigate operational behavior.
• Experience with Kubernetes and container-based application deployment and operations.
