Job summary

Bell & Evans is seeking a Quality Assurance Technician for a 3rd shift to support food safety and quality systems. The role involves monitoring, documenting, and enforcing policies while training team members and taking corrective action when needed.

Responsibilities include pre-operational inspections, process control monitoring, sample collection for testing, data analysis for continuous improvement, and audits to ensure product specifications. Strong GMP/SOP familiarity is expected.

Qualifications

  • 1 year of experience in a quality assurance role in a food manufacturing facility or college education in a related degree.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, procedures, and manuals; strong written and verbal English.
  • Familiarity with GMPs, SOPs, SSOPs and HACCP-based programs is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform pre-operational inspections, visual checks, and ATP/APC swabbing.
  • Monitor CCPs, allergen control, foreign material control, labeling, packaging integrity, and product specs.
  • Collect samples for microbiological or chemical testing (e.g., APC, Staph, LAB, EB, fat, moisture, protein).
  • Troubleshoot deviations and implement corrective actions.
  • Document and analyze data to drive continuous improvement.
  • Conduct quality audits to ensure products meet specifications.
  • Investigate customer feedback and internal incidents; respond timely.
  • Ensure compliance with GMPs and SOPs by supervising staff.

JOB SUMMARY

The Quality Assurance Technician is a critical part of the plants food safety and quality system who is responsible for monitoring, documenting, and enforcing policies in addition to training key team members and taking critical corrective action when required.

3rd Shift Available

The technician role is a very hand on, highly interactive role in a fast paced, ever changing production environment. The ability to quickly assess risk, lead a team to a decision point and ensure plans are executed are critical skills required to perform this role.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Perform pre-operational inspection tasks as required. (Visual Inspections, ATP/APC swabbing).
  • Monitor process controls (CCP's, Allergen Control, Foreign Material Control, Labeling Requirements, Package Integrity, Product Specifications) to ensure adherence to all food safety and quality programs.
  • Perform sample collection as required for microbiological or chemical testing (APC, Staph, LAB, EB, Fat, Moisture, Protein).
  • Troubleshoot and take appropriate corrective action when deviations occur.
  • Document, monitor and analyze data to drive continuous improvement.
  • Perform quality audits (AQL's) to ensure product meets specification.
  • Investigate customer feedback and internal incidents and provide responses in a timely manner.
  • Monitor employees for proper work conduct including but not limited to GMP's, SOP's, and SSOP's.
  • Review paperwork for accuracy and compliance to all food safety and quality programs.
  • Routinely interact with USDA FSIS inspection staff and plant management teams (Production, Maintenance, Shipping/Warehousing).
  • Review monthly goals and continuous improvement projects with quality assurance supervisors.
  • Work on agreed upon continuous improvement.
  • Perform other duties and as assigned by the Quality Assurance Supervisor.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

1-year of experience in a Quality assurance role in a food manufacturing facility or college education in a related degree.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to speak English, read and interpret documents such as safety rules, instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
