Job summary

Fresh Express, Inc. is seeking a Quality Assurance Technician to support the Production Team with routine sampling, testing, and documentation to ensure product quality.

The role requires basic computer skills, English literacy, and the ability to work in a cold environment with overtime as needed. Prior QA or technical exposure is preferred.

Qualifications

• Must have basic computer skills (Excel, Outlook, and Word).
• Must be able to read and interpret documents (in English).
• Must write routine reports and e-mail correspondence (in English).
• Must be able to upload information into portable electronic (Tablets and ATP Units).
• Must be able to work in a cold, wet environment for an entire shift.
• Must be able to work overtime, including weekends and holidays as required.
• Must be capable of standing for long periods of time.
• Must be able to lift-up to 50lbs when required.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine sampling and testing of Fresh Express products at various stages of production.
• Recognize, identify, communicate, and document out-of-spec samples.
• Ensure adjustments to meet specifications and recheck after adjustments.
• Analyze Total and free chlorine testing including pH testing.
• Monitor rinse water temperature; verify metal detector and oxygen tests.
• Evaluate cut quality and blend ratios; test total volume and shelf-life samples.
• Document results and actions; monitor equipment condition and calibration.
• Reinforce GMP, safety and SOP adherence; participate in safety incidents.
• Provide backup for other unit positions during breaks and absences.
• Perform other duties as required or assigned.

Quality Assurance Technician is a fast-paced position heavily involved with the mathematical and technical areas. The QA Technician serves as an important supporting member of the Production Team.

Job Function Statements - Essential Functions:

• Responsible for routine sampling and testing of Fresh Express products at various stages of production as follow:
• Recognizing, identifying, communicating, and documenting out-of-spec samples.
• Ensuring that adjustments are made to ensure compliance with specifications, and for rechecking following adjustments to ensure that product is of the highest quality.
• Analyzes Total and free chlorine testing includes pH testing
• Rinse water temperature monitoring
• Metal detector verification
• Percent oxygen testing
• Cut quality and blend ratio evaluation including Total volume testing
• Seal integrity (leakers testing)
• Shelf-life sample collection
• Master Pack System Verification
• Documentation of all results and actions
• Monitors assigned equipment/tool condition, calibration, and use.
• Reinforces area practices to ensure SOPs are being adhered to for quality checks and corrective action with peers and team.
• Reinforces area practices that promote a safe work environment with peers and team
• Reinforces area practices that promote GMP adherence and food safety with peers and team
• Participates in food safety incident.
• Reinforces proper safety habits including LOTO is being properly executed with peers/team
• Serves a backup for other unit positions as needed to cover for breaks, meals, and absences.
• Perform other duties as required or assigned

Required Qualifications/Skills:

• Must have basic computer skills (Excel, Outlook, and Word).

• Must write routine reports and e-mail correspondence (in English).
• Must be able to upload information into portable electronic (Tablets and ATP Units).

Other Desired Qualifications/Skills:

• Previous experience (1 year) working in QA or a Technical environment.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience meeting or exceeding high production expectations.
• Food industry experience.
• Self-motivated individual who requires minimal supervision and direction.

Education/Training:

High school preferred
