Job summary

Fresh Express Salads is seeking a Quality Assurance Technician for a fast-paced production environment. You will sample and test products at various stages, identify out-of-spec results, and document actions to ensure specifications are met.

The role requires basic computer skills, the ability to read safety rules in English, and the capability to lift up to 50 lbs. Overtime and weekend work may be required.

Qualifications

• Must read and interpret documents in English such as safety rules and specifications.
• Must write routine reports and emails in English.
• Experience in QA or a technical environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Routine sampling and testing of Fresh Express products at production stages.
• Identify, communicate, and document out-of-spec samples.
• Make adjustments to ensure specifications are met and recheck after adjustments.
• Analyze chlorine testing (Total and free), pH testing and rinse water temperature.
• Verify metal detector, percent oxygen, cut quality, and blend ratios.
• Assess seal integrity and shelf-life sampling; verify Master Pack System.
• Document results and actions; monitor equipment calibration and use.
• Enforce SOPs, GMP adherence, and food safety with peers; provide coverage as needed.
• Contribute to safety practices (LOTO) and participate in food safety incidents.
• Back up other unit positions during breaks, meals, and absences; perform other duties.

Job description

Quality Assurance Technician is a fast-paced position heavily involved with the mathematical and technical areas. The QA Technician serves as an important supporting member of the Production Team.

Job Function Statements - Essential Functions:

• Responsible for routine sampling and testing of Fresh Express products at various stages of production as follow:
• Recognizing, identifying, communicating, and documenting out-of-spec samples.
• Ensuring that adjustments are made to ensure compliance with specifications, and for rechecking following adjustments to ensure that product is of the highest quality.
• Analyzes Total and free chlorine testing includes pH testing
• Rinse water temperature monitoring
• Metal detector verification
• Percent oxygen testing
• Cut quality and blend ratio evaluation including Total volume testing
• Seal integrity (leakers testing)
• Shelf-life sample collection
• Master Pack System Verification
• Documentation of all results and actions
• Monitors assigned equipment/tool condition, calibration, and use.
• Reinforces area practices to ensure SOPs are being adhered to for quality checks and corrective action with peers and team.
• Reinforces area practices that promote a safe work environment with peers and team
• Reinforces area practices that promote GMP adherence and food safety with peers and team
• Participates in food safety incident.
• Reinforces proper safety habits including LOTO is being properly executed with peers/team
• Serves a backup for other unit positions as needed to cover for breaks, meals, and absences.
• Perform other duties as required or assigned

Required Qualifications/Skills:

• Must have basic computer skills (Excel, Outlook, and Word).
• Must be able to read and interpret documents (in English) such as safety rules, product specifications, etc.
• Must write routine reports and e-mail correspondence (in English).
• Must be able to upload information into portable electronic (Tablets and ATP Units).
• Must be able to work in a cold, wet environment for an entire shift.
• Must be able to work overtime, including weekends and holidays as required.
• Must be capable of standing for long periods of time.
• Must be able to lift-up to 50lbs when required.

Other Desired Qualifications/Skills:

• Previous experience (1 year) working in QA or a Technical environment.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience meeting or exceeding high production expectations.
• Food industry experience.
• Self-motivated individual who requires minimal supervision and direction.

Education/Training:

High school preferred
