Job summary

Diversified Foods & Seasonings (DFS) is hiring a Quality Control Technician in Madisonville, LA. You will support food safety and product quality by inspecting materials and products, performing quality tests, and keeping accurate records to ensure DFS standards are met.

Responsibilities include conducting inspections of raw materials and finished products, verifying documentation, and maintaining calibration of QC equipment. Strong attention to detail and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; related field preferred.
  • Basic computer and data-entry skills for inspections and documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail to identify quality concerns.
  • Knowledge of GMP, HACCP, SSOP, allergen control, FIFO, product specs.
  • Ability to work across Production, Warehouse and Quality teams.
  • Ability to follow testing procedures and calibrate QC equipment.
  • Ability to perform physical requirements in a fast-paced environment.
  • Adequate vision, hearing, and color recognition.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and document quality and food safety inspections of materials, ingredients, in-process products, finished products, equipment, and facility areas.
  • Conduct product testing and evaluations, including weights, temperatures, seals, chemical, organoleptic, and other analyses.
  • Verify production and QC documentation, lot codes, product specifications, FIFO, shelf life, allergen controls, storage practices, and material traceability.
  • Monitor compliance with DFS SOPs, GMPs, SSOPs, HACCP plans, and food safety requirements; identify and document non-conforming conditions.
  • Place non-conforming materials or products on QC Hold, maintain required records, and communicate quality or food safety concerns to appropriate leadership.
  • Inspect, verify, and calibrate assigned QC and laboratory equipment and support required facility, warehouse, shipping/receiving, and food safety audits.
  • Maintain accurate QC records and data, support employee training, and assist with additional quality and food safety activities as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Pay: Starting at $18/hour (commensurate with experience)

ABOUT THE POSITION

The QC technician supports food safety and product quality by inspecting materials and products, completing quality tests, maintaining accurate records, and helping ensure DFS standards are consistently met.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Perform and document quality and food safety inspections of raw materials, ingredients, in-process products, finished products, equipment, and facility areas.
  • Conduct required product testing and evaluations, including weights, temperatures, seals, chemical, organoleptic, and other assigned analyses.
  • Verify production and QC documentation, lot codes, product specifications, FIFO, shelf life, allergen controls, storage practices, and material traceability.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
  • High school diploma or GED required; education or experience in Quality, Food Science, Manufacturing, or a related field preferred.
  • Basic computer and data-entry skills with the ability to accurately complete inspections, testing, calculations, and documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify product, material, food safety, and quality concerns.
  • Knowledge of or ability to learn GMP, HACCP, SSOP, allergen control, FIFO, product specifications, and food manufacturing requirements.
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills with the ability to work effectively across Production, Warehouse, and Quality teams.
  • Ability to follow testing procedures, use and calibrate QC/laboratory equipment, and maintain accurate records..
  • Ability to safely perform the physical requirements of the position and work in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment.
  • Must have adequate vision, hearing, and color recognition to safely perform job duties.
