Job summary

Tribute Baking Company in Lebanon, PA, is seeking a Quality Assurance Technician to lead daily SPC/SQC data collection, audit production lines for HACCP and GMP, and help educate plant staff on safe edible goods production.

You will collaborate with production, maintenance, sanitation, and QA Manager to contain non-conforming materials, document tests, and support regulatory submissions while upholding SQF practices.

Qualifications

  • High School or trade school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Perform visual inspections of in-progress and finished products.
  • Document data capture forms and logs for testing procedures.
  • Calibrate, validate, or maintain measuring equipment.
  • Conduct GMP plant walkthroughs at given frequency and report findings.
  • Participate in out-of-specification and failure investigations and recommend corrective actions.
  • Supply quality control data necessary for regulatory submissions.
  • Communicate with co-workers to promote productivity and responsiveness.
  • Suggest improvements to supervision and co-workers.
  • Train other employees as needed or when asked.
  • Work in a safe manner per SOPs, GMPs, and SQF requirements.

Job description

Tribute Baking Company is the strategic combination of four businesses with rich histories in the baking industry! Always Bagels, Original Bagel, Dutch Maid and Hometown Foods USA, together, create a market leading producer of authentic New York style kettle-boiled, hearth-baked bagels and high-quality cake products sold into the in-store bakery, club store, foodservice, and convenience store channels.

Reporting to the Quality Assurance Manager, the Q.A. Technician is responsible for performing all Quality Departmental practices such as collecting and interpreting SPC and SQC data daily, performing and recording results from all production and packing line audits for HACCP, GMP, as well as collecting data of temperatures, weights and defects, and assisting in educating all plant employees in the practices of producing safe edible goods.

The Q.A. Technician will partner with other members of a manufacturing facility (production, maintenance, sanitation, etc.) to ensure adherence to process control program of the plant in order to maximize operational efficiency in an environment of continuous improvement.

The Q.A. Technician will report to the Quality Assurance Manager of all out of compliance materials and conditions in the facility and contain all non-conforming products and materials, and isolate and hold all substandard ingredients, work in progress, and finished goods.

The Quality Assurance Technician is based in our Lebanon, PA location.

Duties/Responsibilities
  • Perform visual inspections of in-progress and finished products.
  • Complete documentation needed to support testing procedures including data capture forms, equipment logbooks, or inventory forms.
  • Calibrate, validate, or maintain measuring equipment.
  • Conduct and document GMP plant walkthroughs at given frequency and report findings to the supervisor and/or QA Manager.
  • Participate in out-of-specification and failure investigations and recommend corrective actions.
  • Supply quality control data necessary for regulatory submissions.
  • Communicate with co-worker to promote productivity and responsiveness.
  • Suggest improvements and possible ways to complete a task more effectively to supervision and co-workers.
  • Train other employees as needed or when asked.
  • Work in a safe manner, in compliance with Company, State and Federal, OSHA, GMP's, SOP's and other company Policy and Procedures within the SQF Environment.
  • Ability to work overtime, including weekends, holidays and emergencies, as needed.
  • Work effectively as part of a team and display a positive attitude.
  • Complete assigned housekeeping duties as required.
  • Any other duties as assigned.
Food Safety Responsibilities
  • Support Quality Assurance Head by verifying employee compliance to HACCP, GMP's, SOP's, SSOP'S and Safety procedures within all plant processing areas.
  • Support all management personnel to observe Always Bagels SQF Systems,
  • Maintain the work area in a sanitary manner following prescribed procedures;
  • Report food safety problems to a supervisor or manager;
Safety Responsibilities
  • Work in a safe and responsible manner at all times, following all safety policies, procedures, and rules;
  • Report unsafe observations or conditions to a supervisor or manager.
  • Immediately report an injury or accident to a supervisor or manager.
Requirements
  • A High School or Trade School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Working use of basic math and reading skills;
  • Ability to work independently or in a group/team atmosphere;
  • Good organizational and time management skills;
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time and walk throughout plant continuously.
  • HACCP certified is a plus
  • Must be well organized, able to work on several projects at once and prioritize.
  • Demonstrate a high level of communication, cooperation and teamwork with production operators to maintain and trouble shoot plant issues.
  • Must enter, transcribe, record, store, or maintain information in written or electronic form.
  • Must be able to provide information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person.
  • Use relevant information and individual judgment to determine whether events or processes comply with laws, regulations, or standards.
  • Promote company culture.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Must be proficient to understand, read, write and speak English and Spanish
  • Maintains composure in dealing with difficult situations; demonstrates positive attitude.
Physical Requirements

The Quality Assurance Technician will be required to stand, sit, walk, push, pull, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, overhead reach, fine manipulation, move continuously during work hours and able to lift and/or carry up to 30 pounds.
