Job summary

Brooksource is hiring a QA & Support Engineer in the Houston area to join a fast-paced, innovative team supporting landfill operations software. You will design manual test plans, build automated tests, and triage user issues while delivering training materials for field and office users.

The role emphasizes understanding real-world operational requirements and working with cross-functional teams to ensure reliability, usability, and continuous learning across product lifecycles.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in QA, technical support, or a related role.
• Experience designing and executing manual test plans for production software.
• Experience writing or maintaining automated tests (UI, integration, or end-to-end).
• Experience supporting end users: triaging issues, communicating solutions, and managing expectations.
• Experience developing training materials or delivering user training.
• Experience with modern software development tools and collaborative platforms such as GitHub.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively in situations with incomplete information or changing requirements.
• Experience using AI tools to improve productivity: in testing, documentation, or support workflows, is a plus.
• Desire to develop deep ownership and understanding of production systems and the users who depend on them.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with operations, engineering, environmental, and business stakeholders to understand how our products are used in the field.
• Design and execute manual test plans that validate product behavior against real-world operational requirements.
• Build and maintain automated test suites to increase coverage and catch regressions across the product portfolio.
• Serve as a primary point of contact for user-reported issues, triaging problems, communicating status, and driving issues to resolution.
• Plan and deliver user training sessions (both live and self-paced) for field and office users across business functions.
• Develop and maintain training materials including guides, walkthroughs, and reference documentation.
• Develop deep understanding of the systems, users, and operational processes that our products support.
• Contribute throughout the full product lifecycle, including validation, deployment, monitoring, and ongoing support.
• Identify patterns in user feedback and issues that inform product improvements and communicate them to the engineering team.
• Uphold high standards for reliability, usability, and operational excellence.
