Great Direct Hire openings for a food manufacturing company located in Skokie, IL.

1st shift hours - 7:00am-3:30pm @ $21.00/hr

3rd shift hours - 11:00pm-7:00am @ $23.00/hr

Summary

The QA Specialist is responsible for monitoring products and employee practices on the manufacturing floor to ensure the safety and quality of products manufactured.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Report any food safety and quality problems to authorized personnel.
  • Perform QA in-process inspections per shift, including checking production paperwork, retain samples, code dates, weight, metal detection, labels, color codes, cleanliness, GMP practices, and allergen cross-contamination.
  • Conduct daily scale checks.
  • Place materials on hold due to quality or food safety issues, following Hold Policy.
  • Send electronic hold reports via SharePoint and transfer PQ products to 100#.
  • Release products on hold upon approval.
  • Generate disposal reports for materials to be disposed.
  • Perform metal detector checks during production.
  • Verify DVU logs and alarms.
  • Validate changeovers and perform equipment sanitation checks.
  • Conduct environmental and allergen validations.
  • Maintain QA supplies inventory.
  • Collect retain samples for production.
  • Conduct internal audits, including glass and brittle plastic audits.
  • Perform annual magnet pull tests and metal detection tests on detectable ear plugs and band aids.
  • Monitor GMP compliance and report issues daily.
  • Train new QA staff.
  • Generate maintenance work requests.
  • Shut down lines when serious safety issues are detected.
  • File QA documents and perform other QA functions as needed.
  • Check oil FFA and water chlorine levels.
  • Serve as backup for QA Specialist.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements
  • High school diploma required; college preferred.
  • At least 1 year of QA/QC or operational experience in food manufacturing.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Strong organization and time management skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Training Requirements
  • GMP, Allergen, HACCP, Food Safety, GNC QA policies, and HR policies training.
