Job summary

Georgia Nut Company is seeking a QA Specialist to monitor products and employee practices on the manufacturing floor, ensuring safety and quality of all items produced. The role reports to the QA Supervisor and supports receiving raw materials and analytical testing in the labs.

You will perform in-process inspections, uphold GMPs, manage holds and releases, conduct environmental swabbing, and maintain QA records.

Qualifications

  • College degree in foods, biology, chemistry, etc. strongly preferred.
  • Experience in the foods/manufacturing industry preferred.
  • Basic written and mathematics skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Report any food safety and quality issues to authorized personnel.
  • Perform QA in-process inspections for each department/line per shift.
  • Conduct daily scale checks and documentation reviews.
  • Place on hold materials due to quality or safety concerns.
  • Send electronic hold reports via SharePoint and manage PQ transfers.
  • Release products on hold once approved.
  • Generate disposal reports for materials on hold.
  • Verify logs for DVU and alarm checks on roasters.
  • Perform changeover validation and sanitation-related swabbing.
  • Conduct environmental swabbing and yearly allergen validation.
  • Maintain QA supplies inventory and QA documents.
  • Prepare retain samples for Production.
  • Conduct internal plant audits for glass and brittle plastics.
  • Perform magnet pull tests and metal detector checks.
  • Monitor GMP on the floor and report daily issues.
  • Train new QA Technicians and QA Specialists.
  • Generate maintenance work requests and escalate safety issues.
  • Shut down lines when serious food safety issues are found.
  • Check oil FFA and water chlorine levels.

ROLE SUMMARY

The QA Specialist is responsible for monitoring products and employee practices on the manufacturing floor to ensure the safety and quality of products manufactured by Georgia Nut Company. This role will report to the QA Supervisor and will help in receiving raw materials and analytical testing in labs.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Responsible for reporting any food safety and quality issues to personnel with authority to initiate action.
  • Perform QA in-process inspections for each department/line once per shift by checking the following: production paperwork, retain sample, code date/lot number/best by date, weight check documentation, metal detection documentation, label, color code, department cleanliness employee GMP practice and checking for any potential allergen cross-contamination
  • Perform scale checks once per day
  • Execute holds based on the following:
  • Place on hold materials due to quality, food safety per Hold Policy
  • Send out electronic hold reports to through SharePoint and transfer PQ product to 100##
  • Release products which are on hold when approval is received
  • Generate disposal reports for materials on hold to be disposed
  • Perform verifications and logs on Direct Verifiable User (DVU) and alarm checks for roasters
  • Perform changeover validation on production lines and perform clean equipment/ATP swabbing on equipment after sanitation policy 6615
  • Perform environmental swabbing during manufacturing and yearly allergen validation
  • Maintain inventory of QA supplies and file QA documents
  • Make retain samples for Production
  • Conduct internal plant audits and audit of glass and brittle plastic
  • Perform magnet pull test annually and metal detection tests on metal detectable ear plugs and Band-Aids twice a year
  • Monitor GMP on the floor and send out daily report of issues noted
  • Train new QA Techs and QA Specialists
  • Generate maintenance work requests
  • Shut down lines/department when a serious food safety issue is noticed
  • Conduct any other functions as required by the QA department
  • Check oil FFA and water chlorine
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
  • College degree in foods, biology, chemistry, etc. highly preferred
  • Experience in the foods/manufacturing industry preferred
  • Basic written and mathematics skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Good communication skills (written and oral)
