Job summary

Oxy seeks a QA/QC Electrical Technician to support safe, reliable, and compliant electrical work across field locations and projects. You will inspect installations, verify conformance to drawings, specs, and codes, and document findings for disposition with operations and contractors.

The role requires a strong electrical background, detailed workmanship review, and the ability to coordinate with operations, maintenance, engineering, HSE, and third‑party contractors; travel to sites is expected.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• 10+ years of industrial electrical, electrical construction, electrical maintenance, commissioning, inspection, or related experience.
• Knowledge of NEC, NFPA 70E, OSHA, NEMA, IEEE, API, and company electrical standards.
• Experience interpreting drawings, one-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, panel schedules, loop drawings, and equipment documentation.
• Ability to travel and hold a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Perform field QA/QC inspections of electrical installations, maintenance work, repairs, upgrades, and construction activities.
• Verify electrical work conforms to approved drawings, specifications, scopes of work, company standards, and applicable codes.
• Inspect electrical equipment and installations (MCCs, switchgear, panels, transformers, UPS, motors, VFDs, control systems, cable trays, grounding, lighting, and instrumentation).
• Review contractor work packages, inspection plans, commissioning checklists, turnover packages, redlines, test reports, and quality documentation.
• Witness and document electrical testing activities (continuity, insulation resistance, grounding, functional testing, loop checks, startup).
• Identify nonconforming work, issue punch-lists, and verify corrective actions before closeout.
• Maintain inspection records, photographs, reports, and supporting documentation.
• Participate in pre-job planning, job hazard analyses, field walkthroughs, constructability reviews, and project meetings.
• Support development/improvement of electrical QA/QC procedures and quality standards.
• Verify electrical work follows safe-work practices, lockout/tagout, PPE, and energized-work controls.
• Communicate quality/safety concerns and schedule risks to supervisors and stakeholders.
• Support root-cause reviews of recurring failures and contractor quality concerns.
• Assist with evaluating contractor performance and opportunities for improvement.
• Promote a culture of quality, accountability, continuous improvement, and stop-work authority.
