Job summary

Samuel Engineering, Inc. is seeking a QA/QC Inspector to support heavy industrial projects, including refineries and power facilities. You will assess subcontractors, monitor testing activities, and ensure calibration of measurement equipment on site.

You will maintain quality records, participate in audits, and train site supervision on the Quality Program, while following Samuel EPC policies and safety rules. Strong English and computer skills required; read P&IDs/ISOs.

Qualifications

  • Five years of formal training and experience in heavy industrial projects (refineries, petro-chemical complexes, power plants).
  • Ability to interact effectively with project team members, clients, subcontractors, and craft employees.
  • Must be capable of obtaining or possess inspection licenses/certifications as required.
  • Read, write and communicate in English sufficient to perform job functions.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel; ability to use PDF tools like Bluebeam or Adobe.
  • Able to read P&IDs and ISOs; understand codes and specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Assess sub-contractors' capabilities to meet the quality requirements of the project.
  • Manage the performance of all inspection and testing activities as defined by contract.
  • Ensure contract obligations for testing and record keeping are adhered to.
  • Control calibrated measuring and test equipment used on the project.
  • Keep calibration records and ensure equipment has current calibration records.
  • Ensure turnover of complete quality control package; turnover documentation on schedule.
  • Maintain project quality records for the construction phase and quality audit plans.
  • Perform evaluations of sub-contractors' facilities to determine capabilities.
  • Conduct periodic Quality Program training for site supervisory personnel.
  • Perform other duties as required by QA/QC Department and day-to-day business.
  • Work within precision limits and standards of accuracy.
  • Perform mechanical inspections on electrical installed items (plumb, square, level, etc.).
  • Follow Samuel EPC policies and safety manuals; apply OSHA rules.
  • Follow oral and written directions and perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Essential Qualifications
  • Five (5) years of formal training and experience in heavy industrial projects such as refineries, petro−chemical complexes, power plants, etc.
  • Ability to effectively interact with project team members, clients, subcontractors, and craft employees.
  • Must be capable of obtaining or possess inspection licenses and/or certifications as required
  • Read, write and communicate using English language sufficient to perform job functions (other preferences will be given for special language skills where there is a business need)
  • Possess technological skills such as operating a computer, sending/receiving emails, scan, and print documents. Also, be able to work in Microsoft Word, and Excel; and work in PDF modification programs such as Bluebeam or Adobe.
  • Must exhibit ability to read and interpret P&ID's, and ISO's as well as show an understanding of codes and specifications.
Physical Requirements
  • Stand or walk for long periods of time
  • Use arms and hands to reach for, handle or manipulate objects
  • Lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds; occasionally lift items weighing more than 50 pounds with assistance
  • Climb up and down ladders, scaffolds and other objects while carrying tools and equipment
  • Stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl
  • See well (naturally or with correction)
  • Eye−hand coordination
  • Good physical fitness
  • Good sense of balance
  • Work at great heights

Environment

Works out of a main office or out of a field office at the construction site, monitors the all phases of the construction project, may travel extensively when not assigned to a construction site, usually entails temporary residence away from primary residence, deals with delays, the effects of bad weather, or emergencies at the site. Although the work usually is not considered inherently dangerous, must be careful while performing onsite services.
