Palmetto State Armory in Summerville, SC is seeking a QA Process Tech to support pistol assembly, ensuring products meet customer expectations efficiently.

This startup assembly process will evolve; you will perform post-fire range inspections, MRB investigations, workstation audits, and parts verification to secure quality. You will use calipers and micrometers, document QA alerts, and participate in measurement studies while adhering to safety guidelines.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma required. 2-year degree preferred.
  • Interworking of handguns, and assembly processes
  • Organize thoughts logically, MS office products, spreadsheets in particular.
  • Use of hand-held gauges such as calipers and micrometers
  • Any professional certifications will be considered.
  • Manufacturing experience is required. Prior Quality Experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • This is a startup assembly process that will grow over time; duties may change to keep up with development of pistol assembly processes.
  • Post Fire Pistol Range Inspection – Complete post firing inspections according to checklist; be prepared to add other inspections on the form when customer complaints are received so we can contain the defect from being shipped to other customers.
  • First line investigation function on MRB – Judge if cosmetic items can be seen at 18" and would be objectionable to the final purchaser of the pistol. Complete dimensional checks and/or change out assembled parts to determine which part is causing the assembly concern.
  • Workstation Audits – Are the work instructions being followed; Are operators performing required station checks; BOM to Current build sheet; Do we have the correct part numbers at the station?
  • Inspect completed parts from the workstation; do they have all required components installed correctly?
  • QA Alerts – Support process of issuing and training on the QA Alert; QA Alerts are used to show both the accepted and not accepted condition in order to secure containment and protect the end user.
  • Receiving Inspection Test Builds. Build and follow parts from the sub assembly to final gun for parts from suppliers for test builds.
  • Measurement Studies – Capability studies from parts on the floor for improvement or corrective action projects as assigned.
  • Certifying Parts for Production – Example – Front Standard Day sights failing at 10-13% on the line for no threads. Quick backlit visuals will sort out no threads or save failure rate on the line.
  • Other reasonable duties will be assigned from time to time in order to secure the quality of pistols assembled in this process.
  • Adhere to guidelines and procedures to ensure the safe handling, removal, and disposal of both hazardous and non-hazardous materials.
  • All other duties as assigned by supervisor.

JOB PURPOSE

The QA Process Tech in pistol assembly will support production with the goal of producing product exceeding customer expectations in an efficient and effective manner.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Production floor work where standing for long periods of time is required. There will most likely be time spent on the firing range.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This job's physical requirements will change over time. So, on days you may find yourself on your feet for most of the day next to a particular station. On other days, you may be seated for long periods of time inspecting parts.
