Job summary

West Virginia University’s Office of Lab Animal Resources seeks a Quality Assurance Coordinator to lead quality control and compliance efforts across campus. The role supervises husbandry operations, maintains AOALAC/USDA standards, and supports staff training while ensuring animal care and welfare.

The position emphasizes after-hours coverage, SOP development, and collaboration with the OLAR director for policy development and site visits. WVU offers strong benefits and work-life balance.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in related field required or equivalent.
• 0-6 months of Animal Care, Administrative, and Compliance experience required.
• Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
• All qualifications must be met by the time of employment.

Responsibilities

• Oversee quality control and compliance programs within OLAR.
• Develop weekly work schedules and department SOPs.
• Conduct routine room inspections and procedural audits of staff; evaluate adherence to SOPs.
• Manage after-hours rotation for facility emergencies and space management.
• Assist with training staff and new staff onboarding.
• Coordinate with OLAR director and external bodies (USDA, AAALAC, compliance office).
