Job summary

JBS USA is seeking a laboratory technician to perform plating, pathogen testing, data entry in LIMS, and autoclave operations at our facility in the United States. The role requires attention to detail and strict adherence to SOPs and GLP standards.

The ideal candidate will handle Salmonella and Listeria confirmations, prepare media, and support QA audits and shelf-life studies as needed.

Qualifications

• Capable of plating RTC, RTE and NPIS samples and other plating samples per SOP.
• Able to read plates with Petri Film Reader or via visual count.
• Capable of testing Salmonella, Salmonella Enteritis and Listeria per SOP.
• Able to set up samples in LIMS and enter results accurately.
• Follow GLP guidelines and participate in audits and training.

Responsibilities

• Plating of RTC, RTE, NPIS and other samples and keeping records.
• Read plates using 3M Petri Film Reader or visual counting methods.
• Perform Salmonella and Listeria confirmations using antisera and API strips.
• Prepare and make slurries for testing and operate autoclave for media.
• Enter and verify data in LIMS; ensure correct dilutions are recorded.
• Maintain 5S practices, log media QC, and dispose of waste per SOP.
• Assist on GLP projects, shelf-life studies and related analyses.

++Plating Requirements:++

1. Capable of plating all RTC, RTE, and NPIS samples and other plating samples as needed.

2. Ability to use 3M Petri Film Reader to read plates or do a visual count.

++Pathogen Testing Requirements:++
3. Capable of testing samples for Salmonella, Salmonella Enteritis, and Listeria in all required samples.

1. Prepare and make slurries for testing.

2. Ability to do confirmations of Salmonella and Listeria using Salmonella antisera and API strips.

++Data Entry:++
6. Ability to set up samples in LIMS system and enter results as well for all NPIS, Product, Environmental samples, drag swabs, and any other results in LIMS.

1. Able to determine which dilution (count) to enter in LIMS per SOP.

2. Review entry and verify to make sure all data entered is correctly entered.

++5S (SORT, SET IN ORDER, SHINE, STANDARDIZE, & SUSTAIN)++

++Autoclave & Media Making:++
9. Able to operate Autoclave for making media, sterilizing, and killing waste.

1. Label and stored all media properly.

2. Properly dispose of autoclaved wastes.

3. All media quantity and autoclave time is recorded on log sheet.

4. Media that requires PH is PH’d and recorded.

5. Padded gloves are used for handling hot media or hot items retrieved from autoclave.

6. Deionized water used to make media make sure it is changed when red light is on. In addition periodically test for APC to ensure no contamination is present

16. Able to do any special project for example: Shelf life studies or Bio-Mapping Studies and others as needed.

1. Able to assist on RTM samples.

2. Able to assist in salt testing, moisture, and fat on CEM & Salt reader.

3. Participation in API check sample testing.

4. Participate in all audit and chemical training.
