Job summary

King & Prince Seafood Corporation in Gloucester, MA is seeking a Microbiology Intern to perform microbiological, analytical and sensory analyses on products, raw materials and facilities to ensure safety, quality and sanitation.

You will maintain records, ensure proper functioning of laboratory equipment, support new methods development, and participate in product inspections at co-manufacturing facilities.

Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor’s Degree in Science (preferred in Food Science, Microbiology or Biology) or equivalent experience.
• Self-starter, with initiative and highly motivated.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently.
• Focus on detail and accuracy.
• Aptitude for lab work.
• Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
• Seafood HACCP preferred, strong knowledge of food safety standards and regulations.
• Ability to safely handle, test, and taste seafood products as part of product evaluation process.

Responsibilities

• Perform microbiological, analytical and/or sensory analysis of samples from manufacturing plants, R&D, Purchasing and Consumer Services.
• Maintain corporate analytical records.
• Ensure proper functioning, cleanliness and maintenance of laboratory and equipment.
• Ensure compliance with Good Laboratory Procedures.
• Participate in development and evaluation of new methods.
• Perform product inspections from co-manufacturing facilities and maintain required records and reporting.
