Job summary

Seaway Plastics in Santa Rosa, CA is seeking an experienced Quality Assurance inspector to join our manufacturing team. You will create inspection records, perform in-process and final inspections, manage samples, and ensure QA documentation and certifications are complete.

You will support production, address non-conforming products, and assist with SPC data and QMS procedures. The role requires hands-on measurement with GD&T and micrometers and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year experience in a Quality Assurance or inspection role in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and complete duties consistently.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Experience with QMS systems including ISO9001/ISO13485/AS9100.
• Physically capable of lifting up to 30 lbs.
• Proficient use of hand-held measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, height gauges).
• Attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.

Responsibilities

• Create inspection record templates; pull samples, quality alerts, and required documents per production schedule.
• Provide quality support during job start-ups and perform 1st piece inspection and approval.
• Perform in-process sample inspections per inspection plans and record results.
• Manage all part samples on the production floor and handle NCRs per QMS procedures.
• Document non-conforming products during inspection by opening NCRs.
• Provide support to production operators with product quality questions.
• Ensure QA documentation is complete and traceable; support customer SPC requirements.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Day Shift - (M-F) 7:00am - 3:30pm

• In-process inspection

Final Audit

• AQL Sample inspections
• Material certifications
• Certificates of Compliance
• Receiving inspections
• Final & receiving QA documentation

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Create inspection record template; pull samples, quality alerts, and all required documents for future jobs per production schedule in accordance with QMS procedures.
• Provide quality support during job start-ups and perform 1 st piece inspection and approval in a timely manner.
• Perform in-process sample inspections per inspection plans and record on inspection record.
• Manage all part samples related to jobs running on the production floor; including pulling, creating, and returning to storage.
• Document non-conforming products during inspection by opening NCR’s per QMS procedures.
• Provide support to production machine operators and production team members related to product quality questions.
• Ensure completeness and accuracy of all QA floor documentation at all points during production.
• Provide support for customer specified SPC as required.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Final Audit

• Perform AQL sample final inspections per inspection plan and in accordance with QMS procedure.
• Perform AQL sample receiving inspections for all items used in the manufacturing of products in accordance with QMS procedure.
• Ensure all incoming items used in manufacturing of products have certifications and those certifications are properly scanned and associated correctly for retrieval when required.
• Create and accurately supply all certification of compliance documents as per customer requirements, including all appropriate material certifications or inspection data as required.
• Ensure that all required final and receiving inspection records are complete and accurate in accordance with QMS procedures.
• Backup and assist with floor inspections when workload permits or floor inspection team members are absent.
• Backup and assist with secondary final inspections when workload permits or team members are absent.
• Document non-conforming products during inspection by opening NCR’s per QMS procedures.

• Experience with engineering part drawings related to part geometry, dimensions & tolerances, drawing views, and interpretation of requirements.
• Proficient use of hand-held measuring instruments. Experience with micrometers, height gauges, calipers, indicators, and optical comparator.
• Knowledge and interpretation skills regarding the principles of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance.
• Working knowledge of inspecting techniques and testing procedures.
