Job summary

Goodwill South Florida is seeking a QA Inspector to help improve product quality on the Miami manufacturing floor. You will inspect garments per work instructions, report findings, and collaborate with supervisors to reduce defects.

Must have a high school diploma or equivalent; knowledge of US measurement systems and basic English; Spanish or Creole a plus. This is a full-time role in Miami with an hourly wage of $14.

Responsibilities

Summary

The QA Inspector's primary responsibility is to assist the organization in achieving its goal of improving product quality, assist operators in recognizing and correcting areas of problems, and reduce the margin of error. The QA Inspector leads on new government/commercial samples. Knows how to read and interpret work instructions and quality critical points specifications. Writes reports accordingly. Maintains a higher level of communication with the QA supervisor. Knows almost all products produced at GWI. Works with production floor supervisors and sewing operators to motivate, persuade, and retrain sewing operators to eliminate defects. Learn the Exenta and Eton system.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • QA Inspector is qualified to inspect any government or commercial product
  • Learn the inspection process of all government and commercial products
  • Inspect the product for compliance with the quality standard. Measures and visually inspects the garment according to the Work Instructions
  • Report findings from the inspection and record findings according to Quality Work Instructions
  • Must learn Exenta and Eton systems
  • Reports findings in Exenta or ETON
  • Reads and interprets work instructions/government/commercial specifications
  • Works with the production supervisor and operator to motivate, persuade, and improve quality standards
  • Prepare summaries of problem areas or operations
  • Provide suggestions to increase productivity while decreasing errors
  • Lead in new commercial/government PDMs/Samples as necessary
  • QA Inspector assists in the final audit area as necessary
  • Assist the QA Supervisor in classifying 2nd garments
  • Must know the metric system in inches
  • Must have sound judgment to make quality determinations
  • Maintains a safe and clean work environment
  • Practice Continuous Improvement principles
  • Supports vision, values, culture, and commitment to excellent customer service to all customers
  • Other duties as assigned based on department needs
Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities; however, it does assist in re‑training, persuading, and motivating employees.

Qualifications and Education / Experience
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred, but not required.
  • The ability to make good decisions and the ability to solve problems.
  • Good interpersonal and verbal communication skills, delivering clear and precise instructions.
  • Must know the US metric system.
  • Basic English communication skills required.
  • Spanish or Creole a plus.
