Job summary

JetBrains is hiring a QA Engineer for the IJ Kotlin Plugin, focusing on automated and exploratory testing to ensure Kotlin support in the IDE remains robust and scalable. The role emphasizes collaboration with developers, bug investigation, and regression testing to prevent issues from reaching users.

You will design test scenarios, automate where beneficial, and expand coverage for Kotlin-related tooling across IntelliJ IDEA Ultimate and related areas.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in Kotlin and Java and an interest in language tooling.
• Experience designing test scenarios and deciding what to automate.
• Familiarity with bug trackers, version control, and CI systems.
• Knowledge of Maven/Gradle and Java technologies is a plus.
• Ability to analyze complex behaviors in compilers or language tooling.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with developers on exploratory testing of new IDE functionality.
• Investigate and pinpoint bugs, report findings, and perform regression testing.
• Design maintainable test scenarios and decide which should be automated.
• Write and maintain automated tests in Kotlin to expand coverage.
• Analyze existing test coverage and prioritize future automation efforts.
• Participate in product planning to assess risks and plan QA work.
• Improve test coverage for Kotlin tooling in IntelliJ IDEA and related areas.
