About the role:
We are looking for a highly skilled QA Engineer with hands-on experience in accessibility testing, test automation, and UI testing. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in ensuring that our applications are accessible to all users, including those with disabilities, and that our automated test suites are stable, reliable, and comprehensive.
Job Responsibilities:
Accessibility Testing:
Conduct in-depth testing using screen readers, primarily NVDA, to validate accessibility for visually impaired users.
Assess and improve form navigation, readability, and usability for assistive technologies.
Utilize tools like Google Analytics, Chrome Extensions, and AA Browser to evaluate compliance with WCAG AA standards.
Manual Testing:
Design detailed test cases covering typical and edge case scenarios (e.g., uploading zero, one, or multiple files).
Execute negative testing (e.g., invalid input, unsupported formats) to verify robust error handling.
Perform detailed testing on UI components such as forms, comment sections, and media elements.
Automated Testing:
Write and maintain test automation scripts using JavaScript and frameworks like Cypress, Selenium, or Playwright.
Mirror manual testing flows in automation to increase efficiency and consistency.
Build a stable and reliable test suite, ensuring automated tests fail only due to real issues.
Debugging & Maintenance:
Identify flaky or unstable tests and resolve root causes to improve test reliability.
Replace outdated or non-functional automation with modern, maintainable solutions.
Ensure ongoing health of the test suite through regular updates and maintenance.
Strategic QA Planning:
Set and track goals for automation coverage (e.g., 100+ high-value automated tests).
Prioritize quality, accuracy, and coverage in test development over sheer quantity.
Ensure mission-critical areas (e.g., operations, surveys, shift notes) are thoroughly tested.
Collaboration & Leadership:
Take full ownership of the QA automation backlog and testing roadmap.
Work closely with both developers and QA team members to align on testing standards and tooling.
Act as the go-to person for test infrastructure improvements and accessibility QA best practices.
Required Technical Skills:
Screen Readers: NVDA (NonVisual Desktop Access)
Accessibility Tools: Chrome Extensions, Google Analytics, AA Browser (for WCAG AA compliance) Developer Tools: Chrome DevTools
Automation Tools & Frameworks: JavaScript, Cypress, Selenium, Playwright (or similar)
