Job summary

Rolls-Royce is seeking a Quality Engineer to ensure the highest standards of product quality and reliability at the Mankato, MN facility or strategic partner locations. You will implement quality controls, coordinate corrective actions, and drive continuous improvement across manufacturing and operational activities.

The role requires a mechanical/electrical/manufacturing engineering background with 3+ years in quality engineering, or 7+ years of experience.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's in Mechanical, Electrical, or Manufacturing Engineering with 3+ years in quality engineering for large industrial equipment.
  • Alternatively, 7+ years of relevant quality engineering experience will be considered.
  • US work authorization without sponsorship required.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours or shifts as needed.
  • Strong knowledge of quality control processes and manufacturing techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and implement quality control objectives to resolve production issues, improve reliability, and reduce costs.
  • Design and execute quality control plans tailored to processes and specs.
  • Conduct quality audits of production lines and operations for compliance.
  • Oversee PFMEA to identify failure modes and mitigation strategies.
  • Create and monitor long-term corrective actions using 8D and A3 methods.
  • Investigate non-conformances and customer/internal quality issues to determine root causes.
  • Perform detailed product inspections according to QC plans and standards.
  • Provide management with timely quality data, metrics, and improvement opportunities.
  • Prepare and distribute detailed quality reports with findings and actions.
  • Maintain communication with management on progress, concerns, and initiatives.
  • Promote a culture of compliance and quality aligned with corporate values.
  • Participate in special projects to enhance quality systems.

About The Role

The Quality Engineer at Rolls-Royce plays a vital role in ensuring the highest standards of product quality and reliability. This position involves implementing and overseeing quality control processes across manufacturing and operational activities at the Mankato, MN facility or at strategic partner locations. The successful candidate will utilize advanced quality engineering tools, conduct product inspections, and coordinate corrective actions to resolve production issues. The role demands a proactive approach to identifying root causes of non-conformances, developing long-term solutions, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. Collaboration with cross-functional teams, effective communication of quality metrics, and adherence to industry standards are fundamental aspects of this position. The Quality Engineer will contribute significantly to maintaining Rolls-Royce’s reputation for excellence and innovation in power systems technology.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate should possess a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Manufacturing Engineering, coupled with a minimum of three years of quality engineering experience in large industrial equipment manufacturing. Alternatively, candidates with seven or more years of relevant experience will also be considered. Authorization to work freely within the United States without sponsorship is required. The candidate must demonstrate the ability to work flexible hours or shifts as needed. Strong knowledge of engineering principles, quality control processes, and manufacturing techniques is essential. Proficiency with PC applications, MS Office Suite, and familiarity with industry standards such as NFPA 70, NEC, UL 2200, and CSA are preferred. A demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, analyze problems, and implement corrective actions is critical for success in this role.

  • Perform detailed product inspections in accordance with established quality control plans and standards.
  • Provide management with accurate, timely data on quality metrics, issues, and improvement opportunities.
  • Prepare and distribute detailed quality reports, highlighting key findings and recommended actions.
  • Maintain open communication with management regarding project progress, quality concerns, and upcoming initiatives.
  • Promote a culture of compliance and quality awareness aligned with Rolls-Royce’s Code of Conduct and corporate values.
  • Participate in special projects and initiatives aimed at enhancing quality systems and manufacturing processes.
