Job summary

Movement Mortgage is seeking an early-career software quality engineer to help define and execute robust testing across web apps, APIs, and integrated systems. You will collaborate with engineers and product teams to validate features, troubleshoot issues, and drive quality throughout the development lifecycle.

You will apply modern testing practices, contribute to automation, and explore AI-assisted tooling to improve efficiency and outcomes in a collaborative, agile environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.
• Curious, driven to understand how systems work and how to improve them.
• Interest in AI-assisted software development and emerging tools.

For us, purpose and people have always come before profit.How You'll ContributeLearn and apply modern software quality engineering practices across web applications, APIs, and integrated systems.Develop, execute, and maintain manual and automated test coverage.Partner with software engineers and product teams to validate new features and identify issues early in the development lifecycle.Leverage AI tools and emerging technologies to improve testing workflows, productivity, and software quality.Assist with API testing, test data creation, and test environment validation.Investigate defects, troubleshoot issues, and help drive resolution.Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, standups, retrospectives, and collaborative problem solving.Continuously experiment with new tools, technologies, and approaches that improve engineering effectiveness.Who You AreBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field (or expected graduation within six months).Early in your career and excited to build a strong engineering foundation.Naturally curious and driven to understand how systems work, why they fail, and how they can be improved.Someone who enjoys building, tinkering, troubleshooting, and learning new technologies.Comfortable working through ambiguity and figuring things out when the answer isn't immediately obvious.Excited about AI-assisted software development, automation, and emerging engineering tools.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Able to learn quickly through hands-on experience, experimentation, and collaboration.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Able to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.Preferred QualificationsInternship, coursework, personal projects, open-source contributions, hackathons, homelab projects, or other examples of technical curiosity and self-directed learning.Exposure to Java, JavaScript, Python, C#, or similar programming languages.Familiarity with Git, APIs, SQL, or modern development tools.Exposure to software testing or automation concepts.Interest in using AI to improve software development and quality engineering practicesThe expected salary range for this position is between:$65,000.00 - $85,900.00The range for the position in other geographies may vary based on market differences.
