Job summary

Prudentia Sciences is seeking a detail-oriented QA Engineer to ensure the quality, reliability, and accuracy of our AI-powered platform as we scale. This role partners with engineering, product, and ML teams to safeguard trust across deal pipelines and insights.

You will design test strategies, build automation (UI/API/data), and enforce quality gates within CI/CD, while performing manual testing to catch edge cases.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent practical experience).
• Proven experience testing modern web applications, including manual/exploratory testing and building automated test suites.
• Hands-on experience with automated testing frameworks (Playwright, Cypress) and API testing tools (pytest, REST-assured, pactflow).
• Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions) and establishing quality gates.
• Comfort reading code and working with engineers to understand system architecture, APIs, and data flows to design meaningful tests.
• Experience testing data-driven applications with complex workflows.
• Skilled at writing clear, reproducible bug reports and test plans; familiarity with Jira/Linear.

Responsibilities

• Design and own the test strategy for our web platform, including functional, regression, integration, and end-to-end tests.
• Build and maintain automated test suites (UI, API, data pipeline) to enable fast, confident releases.
• Conduct hands-on exploratory testing of complex, data-rich workflows to catch edge cases automation misses.
• Embed automated testing into CI/CD pipelines and maintain quality gates before code reaches staging/production.
• Identify, document, and triage defects with clear reproduction steps; work with engineers to verify fixes.
• Validate ML-driven outputs for accuracy as they move from orchestration to user-facing views.
• Support load, performance, and reliability testing to meet availability targets.
• Assist in security/compliance testing aligned with healthcare and life sciences data.

The Opportunity

We're seeking a detail-oriented QA Engineer to help ensure the quality, reliability, and accuracy of our platform as we scale. What You'll Do

• Test Strategy & Planning: Design and own the test strategy for our web platform, covering functional, regression, integration, and end-to-end testing across deal pipelines, document ingestion, and LLM-driven insight delivery.
• Test Automation: Build and maintain automated test suites (UI, API, and data pipeline) to enable fast, confident releases as the platform and engineering team scale.
• Manual & Exploratory Testing: Conduct hands-on exploratory testing of complex, data-rich workflows to catch edge cases automation alone won't surface.
• Quality Gates in CI/CD: Partner with engineering to embed automated testing into CI/CD pipelines, establishing clear quality gates before code reaches staging and production. You should be ruthless at eliminating flaky or long-running tests from CI gates too.
• Bug Tracking & Triage: Identify, document, and triage defects with clear reproduction steps; work with engineers to prioritize fixes and verify resolutions.
• Data & Output Validation: Validate the accuracy and consistency of ML-driven outputs (risk analyses, valuations, scientific assessments) as they move from the orchestration layer into user-facing views.
• Performance & Reliability Testing: Support load, performance, and reliability testing to ensure the platform meets the availability and responsiveness expectations of deal teams working with sensitive, time-sensitive data.
• Security & Compliance Awareness: Help verify secure handling of sensitive scientific and deal data, and support testing practices aligned with best practices for healthcare and life sciences data.
• Collaboration & Process: Work cross-functionally with engineers, product leads, and domain experts to translate scientific and business requirements into clear, testable acceptance criteria.
• Continuous Improvement: Champion a quality-first culture> Advocating for testability in design reviews, improving test coverage over time, and staying current on modern QA tooling and practices.

Who You Are

Core Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent practical experience).
• QA Experience: Proven experience testing modern web applications, including both manual/exploratory testing and building automated test suites.
• Test Automation Tools: Hands-on experience with automated testing frameworks (e.g., Playwright, Cypress) and API testing tools (e.g., pytest, REST-assured, pactflow).
• CI/CD Integration: Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions) and establishing quality gates.
• Technical Fluency: Comfort reading code and working directly with engineers to understand system architecture, APIs, and data flows well enough to design meaningful tests.

• Bug Tracking & Documentation: Skilled at writing clear, reproducible bug reports and test plans; comfortable using issue trackers (e.g., Jira, Linear) to manage and communicate quality status.
• Security & Compliance Awareness: Familiarity with best practices for secure data handling and testing in regulated or sensitive-data environments (especially valuable in healthcare, life sciences, or enterprise environments).

Location

This role is hybrid, requiring being onsite 2 days per week (Tuesday/Thursday) in one of our U.S. hubs: Boston, New York City, or San Francisco.

Compensation Range: $85K - $115K
