Job summary

McLaughlin Body Company, Inc. is seeking a lead quality auditor to own ISO-9001 processes and to train staff in Quality Standards.

You will document and communicate key characteristics (KCs) for each product and work with engineering on gauges and fixtures to control dimensional KCs. Responsibilities include data collection on KPIs (FPY, DPU, DPPM), posting KPIs and VOC feedback, driving root-cause analysis, and participating in MRBs and PPAP support tasks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in technical engineering or 3–5 years of related experience, or a mix of education and related experience.

Responsibilities

• Frequent communications and visits with customer to support a partnership relationship.
• Conduct and/or participate in supplier development activities for key suppliers.
• Quality improvement programs that target DPPM.
• Provide current, accurate quality performance metrics to operations.
• Coaching and developing inspectors.
• Setting performance improvement goals for the KPIs.

Job description

Key Job Functions:

• Serve as lead auditor for ISO-9001


• Train staff and operations in Quality Standards


• Identify, document, and communicate the dimensional and appearance Key Characteristics (KC) of each assigned product. This includes customer dictated KCs and those identified by MBC.


• Work with engineering in the development of gauges and fixtures to control dimensional KCs.


• Assist operations in the training of employees in the use of all gauging and fixturing.


• Collect product quality data and maintain charts on Key Performance Indicators (KPI), to include First Pass Yield (FPY), Defects Per Unit (DPU) and Delivered PPM (DPPM).


• Regularly post KPIs on communication boards in the operating areas, including posting of customer feedback (VOC) and quality alerts.


• Work with engineering and operations personnel to drive quality defects back to the root cause and develop corrective and preventive actions.


• Participate in scheduled CQAs and communicate findings back to the operations personnel


• Participate in MRBs and in determining disposition of NCM.


• Request, review, and approve supplier PPAPs.


• Support the completion of all requested forms in support of customer PPAPs, including but not limited to Appearance Acceptance Reports, Control Plans, Dimensional Results, Balloon Diagrams, Part Submission Warrants, Process Flow Diagrams and Process FMEAs.


• Submit and track customer 8D reports.


• Serve as escalation step for supplier non-conformances.


• Participate in the AQP Process, ensuring plant readiness for product and process changes and new product introductions

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Requires bachelor's degree in technical engineering or three to five years of related experience, or a combination of education and related experience.
