Job summary

HEITMEYER CONSULTING INC. is seeking an experienced QA Automation Engineer in Columbus, OH. You will develop and maintain automation frameworks using Python and Pytest, and automate REST API testing across the full testing lifecycle.

You will validate API endpoints, gateways, OAuth/JWT scenarios, and database checks with SQL. The role requires collaboration with developers, product owners, and QA teams, plus experience with Postman/SoapUI and CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins).

Qualifications

• 5+ years of QA automation experience.
• Strong Python and Pytest experience.
• REST API testing and automation using Python libraries (e.g., requests).

• Experience with Allure or Pytest HTML reporting.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain automation frameworks and test scripts using Python and Pytest.
• Perform REST API automation and validate requests, responses, JSON/XML, status codes, and errors.
• Test API gateways and downstream integrations, including OAuth/JWT/401/403.
• Execute functional, integration, regression, system, and end-to-end testing.
• Use Postman/SoapUI for API testing and troubleshooting.
• Run automated tests through Jenkins/CI-CD and review reports (Allure/Pytest HTML).
• Maintain automation scripts in Git and analyze failures for root-cause fixes.

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced QA Automation Engineer with strong hands‑on expertise in Python, Pytest, and REST API automation. This role will develop and maintain automated tests, troubleshoot failures, manage defects, and support software releases across the full testing lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain automation frameworks and test scripts using Python and Pytest
• Perform REST API automation and validate requests, responses, JSON/XML, status codes, and error scenarios
• Test API gateways, downstream integrations, and authentication/authorization including OAuth, JWT, and 401/403 responses
• Execute functional, integration, regression, system, and end‑to‑end testing
• Use Postman/SoapUI for API testing and troubleshooting
• Run automated tests through Jenkins/CI-CD and review test reports using Allure or Pytest HTML
• Perform SQL/database validation
• Analyze failures, identify root causes, and manage defects through resolution
• Support releases, production validation, and post‑deployment testing
• Collaborate with developers, business analysts, product owners, and QA teams
• Maintain automation code using Git
• Identify opportunities to improve automation coverage and efficiency

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of QA automation experience
• Strong Python and Pytest experience
• Experience building and maintaining automation frameworks
• Strong REST API testing and automation experience, including Python libraries such as requests
• Postman or SoapUI
• Jenkins or another CI/CD platform
• Allure, Pytest HTML, or similar reporting tools
• API gateway and downstream integration testing
• Authentication/authorization testing
• SQL and database validation
• Git/source control
• Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and root‑cause‑analysis skills
• Experience working in an Agile environment
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience
