Job summary

State Employees' Credit Union is seeking a QA Analyst II to enhance testing and quality assurance across multiple applications and platforms. You will work with IS and business teams to ensure quality from planning through release, including mentoring junior staff and contributing to test strategy and execution.

The role emphasizes adherence to testing best practices, strong communication, and the ability to work both independently and within a team to meet project deadlines.

Qualifications

  • Requires a four-year degree in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, or Information Systems.
  • CCUE Certification or NC-CTP AA/AS alternative may satisfy requirements.
  • Experience as software tester with 2–5 years preferred.

PURPOSE: The purpose of the QA Analyst II position is to serve the organization and Systems Quality Assurance team by providing services related to testing and quality control to ensure SECU delivers the best possible product and service to both its membership and employees.

Purpose
Duties
  • Analyze requirement documentation/user stories for validity to reduce requirement gaps and contribute toward issue prevention.
  • Create and maintain library of test cases.
  • Execute the following levels of testing when assigned. (Functional, System, Integrated, Regression, UI, Usability, Accessibility, Compatibility, and Exploratory.)
  • Develop test plan and strategy for assigned test efforts.
  • Detect, report, and track system defects and inconsistencies.
  • Communicate findings to technical and non-technical team members within both IS and business community.
  • Lead planning and issue status meetings as needed.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure quality throughout the SDLC.
  • Lead testing efforts for operational changes and support testing efforts for enterprise projects.
  • Mentor new employees on department procedures and testing methodologies.
  • Support test efforts for multiple application teams and platforms with little or no assistance when transitioning between applications.
  • Provide accurate updates to both management and project team on the status of testing progress.
  • Provide objective feedback to software development and project teams.
  • Work closely with Business Analysts, Product Owners, Developers, and System Administrators to complete assigned projects on time.
  • Attend training sessions on new products and systems as needed to support testing efforts for assigned projects.
  • Maintain proficiency in department processes and procedures.
Requirements

Must meet one of the following education requirements:

  • Obtained a four-year degree preferably in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, or Information Systems.
  • Obtained CCUE Certification
  • Obtained Associate of Arts or Associate of Science degree through the North Carolina College Transfer Program (NC-CTP).

Combination of education and experience required. Experience working as software tester or similar role is required with preference having 2-5 years of relevant experience. Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills. Critical thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Must be a team player that is able to cooperate and collaborate with co-workers. Works effectively in both a team environment and independently. Sense of ownership and pride in your performance and its impact on the organization’s success. Strong multi-tasking and time management skills. Excels in a fast-paced environment. Advanced knowledge of testing best practices and methodologies. Experience working with test management software is required. Exposure to test automation tools and concepts as needed to incorporate automated tests into test plan development. Understanding of system architecture for supported applications. Complete continuing education and training courses as assigned by management to expand knowledge of advanced concepts and increase effectiveness in tester role. Must adhere to work schedule and attendance policy established by manager. Must be able to speak English fluently.

Job Environment

Office setting with physical proximity to other employees. Some background noise from other employees, copy machine, and telephone.

Physical Demands

Must be able to comprehend and complete verbal and written instructions. Job requires a substantial amount of sitting. Use hands and fingers to press keys on a computer keyboard to enter or retrieve information. Use hands and fingers to press telephone key pad and lift telephone receiver. Must be able to comprehend phone calls. Must be able to lift 5 pounds.
