Job summary

Systems Engineering Services Corporation (SESC) in the United States is seeking a Hybrid Python/SQL/AWS Developer to design and optimize data pipelines and analytics workloads. You will work across Reston, VA and Washington, DC, contributing to scalable data platforms and trusted reporting for key stakeholders.

You will collaborate with data analysts and developers in an Agile environment, validating data quality, maintaining documentation, and supporting CI/CD for data solutions.

Qualifications

• Strong Python programming experience; able to design and implement data pipelines.
• Advanced SQL skills with complex queries and performance tuning.
• Solid understanding of BI concepts, reporting, and analytics.
• Hands-on experience with relational databases and database design principles.
• Experience with AWS data services and cloud-based data solutions.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes using Python and SQL.
• Develop and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and database objects for reporting and analytics.
• Perform data mapping and data quality validation to ensure data integrity.
• Work with AWS data services (Lambda, Redshift, Iceberg, Glacier) to build scalable data solutions.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Develop, execute, and maintain test cases for data validation and ETL processes.
• Create and maintain design docs, data dictionaries, and operational procedures.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to process improvements.
• Track work items and defects using JIRA and coordinate enhancements.
• Troubleshoot production issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement fixes.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes using Python and SQL.
• Develop and optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and database objects for reporting and analytics.
• Perform source-to-target data mapping and execute comprehensive data quality validation to ensure data integrity and consistency.
• Work with AWS data services, including AWS Lambda, Amazon Redshift, Apache Iceberg, and Amazon Glacier, to build and support scalable data solutions.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders, data analysts, and developers to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
• Develop, execute, and maintain test cases for data validation, ETL processes, and reporting solutions.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, including design documents, mapping documents, data dictionaries, and operational procedures.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, backlog grooming, and retrospectives.
• Track work items, defects, and enhancements using JIRA and contribute to continuous process improvements.
• Troubleshoot production issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.

Required Qualifications

• Strong programming experience in Python.
• Advanced proficiency in SQL, including complex query development and performance optimization.
• Solid understanding of Business Intelligence (BI) concepts, reporting, and analytics.
• Strong knowledge of relational databases and database design principles.
• Hands-on experience with AWS services
