Job summary

TEKsystems in Sunnyvale, CA is seeking a Backend Engineer to design and evolve services that power our experiences. You will lead projects, mentor engineers, and write clean, scalable code across Python, Go, and Ruby.

You will optimize PostgreSQL databases and contribute to our data warehouse, participate in code reviews, and drive process improvements while delivering reliable, high-availability systems.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of backend software development.
• Ability to design, deploy scalable backend systems.
• Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, design patterns, and software engineering principles.
• Experience leading technical projects and mentoring junior engineers.
• Proficiency in Python, Go, or Ruby; willing to work across all three.
• Extensive experience with PostgreSQL.

• Experience with containerization/orchestration (Kubernetes).

Description

As a Backend Engineer on this team, you'll design and evolve the services that deliver those experiences. At this level, you're the engineer others turn to when a tradeoff isn't obvious, when a system needs to evolve faster than it can be rewritten, or when a choice made today shapes what's possible two launches from now.

Responsibilities

• * Lead technical projects, providing guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
• * Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code across our stack (Python, Go, and Ruby).

Minimum Qualifications

• * 7+ years of experience in backend software development.
• * Proven ability to design, develop, and deploy scalable and resilient backend systems.
• * Excellent knowledge of data structures, algorithms, design patterns, and software engineering principles.
• * Experience in leading technical projects and mentoring junior engineers.
• * Strong proficiency in at least one of Python, Go, or Ruby, with a willingness to work across all three.
• * Extensive experience with database technologies, particularly PostgreSQL.
• * Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts and experience with a major warehouse platform.
• * Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies like Kubernetes.

Preferred Qualifications

• * Experience operating distributed systems in production environments with strict availability requirements.
• * Experience with cloud platforms, particularly AWS.
• * Experience with Snowflake
• * Excellent communication skills, including experience presenting technical work to management and non-technical audiences.

This is a Contract position based out of Sunnyvale, CA.

*Pay and Benefits*

The pay range for this position is $75.00 - $80.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
