Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Python Developer with strong hands-on expertise in migrating legacy SAS code to Python. The ideal candidate should have a solid background in data analytics, scripting, and performance optimization. This role is critical in modernizing analytical workflows, ensuring scalability, and improving execution efficiency on modern platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
Analyze existing SAS programs, macros, and data workflows.
Translate and rewrite complex SAS scripts into equivalent Python code using libraries like Pandas, NumPy, PySpark, SQLAlchemy, etc.
Validate the accuracy and performance of the converted code by comparing output with the original SAS results.
Work closely with data analysts, data engineers, and business teams to understand logic and business requirements behind the SAS scripts.
Optimize Python scripts for performance, readability, and scalability.
Develop automated test cases to verify the integrity of migrated code.
Maintain proper documentation for both legacy and converted code.
Required Skills & Experience:
5+ years of Python development experience.
Strong experience with SAS Base and SAS Macros, with the ability to read and interpret complex SAS scripts.
Proven experience converting SAS code to Python in a production environment.
Experience with data manipulation libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, and SQLAlchemy.
Good understanding of SQL, ETL processes, and data warehousing concepts.
Familiarity with cloud platforms (GCP/AWS/Azure) is a plus.
Experience working with Jupyter Notebooks, Git, and version control best practices.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with PySpark or distributed data processing frameworks.
Familiarity with BI tools (Tableau, Power BI) and reporting.
Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices is a plus.
