About the role
  1. This role involves developing software interfaces with major TV streaming providers and downloading movies and TV shows from US and international platforms. It is central to Nielsen’s streaming measurement strategy and requires updating software to adapt to the evolving streaming environment.
  2. The Software Engineer will deliver technical solutions from project initiation through post-launch support, including development, testing, and user acceptance. The role involves working with multiple distributed project teams across regions. As an AWS Sr SW Engineer, you will work on video and metadata capture systems, processing large audio files with proprietary algorithms to generate audio signatures and fingerprints. You will implement and maintain scalable solutions using Python and SQL optimized for AWS, shaping the technical direction of projects.
Responsibilities
  1. Build new features in existing video and metadata asset capture systems.
  2. Leverage CI/CD pipelines for automated build, test, and deployment processes, ensuring continuous integration and delivery of features, improvements, and bug fixes.
  3. Adhere to coding standards, participate in code reviews, and maintain high code quality.
  4. Identify and optimize performance bottlenecks in client-side and data upload components, including applications for remote/unassisted installation.
  5. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure cohesive software development.
  6. Implement security best practices across all system tiers and ensure compliance with industry standards and AWS security regulations.
Key Skills
  1. Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  2. Minimum 2 years of software development experience on AWS, with proficiency in Python and SQL, especially with PostgreSQL.
  3. Understanding of CI/CD principles and tools; GitLab experience is a plus.
  4. Strong problem-solving, debugging, and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively and convey complex technical concepts effectively.
Other desirable skills
  1. Knowledge of networking principles and security best practices.
  2. AWS certifications and experience with test automation, such as Selenium.
